Finalista La IV Muestra · Orfebrería contemporánea, presenta desde sus orígenes, una plataforma abierta y plural con importante representación nacional e internacional, buscando promocionar y reivindicar el lugar que merece la orfebrería contemporánea. La exposición, organizada por la Asociación de Orfebrería y Joyería Contemporáneas (AdOC) y el Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas (MNAD), muestra en sus salas de exposición, al igual que en convocatorias anteriores, piezas originales e inéditas y dibujos, apoyando un nuevo mercado poco explorado hasta el momento. Los objetos ornamentales y de embellecimiento personal, forman parte de las culturas como elemento esencial del lenguaje simbólico de la sociedad, desde el origen de la humanidad. Nadie duda en considerar sus diseños como parte esencial del arte. Los objetos se transforman en testigos mudos del tiempo. En esta convocatoria y apoyando la exposición en el MNAD, la IV Muestra · Orfebrería contemporánea, incorpora dos sedes temáticas. En la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, la exposición Chus Burés, maestro orfebre y en el Museo de Historia de Madrid (antiguo Real Hospicio de San Fernando), la exposición Orfebres en Madrid. Cuatro sedes itinerario conforman un recorrido por la ciudad con pequeñas exposiciones individuales que sorprenden al visitante, conviviendo durante dos meses con obras de arte y objetos de distinta naturaleza y cronología. Cuatro instituciones en edificios singulares, convertidas en museos: Museo Lázaro Galdiano, Casa Museo Lope de Vega, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid (antiguo cuartel del Conde Duque) y Museo de San Isidro (Los Orígenes de Madrid), serán los protagonistas que constituyen un amplio y especializado itinerario por Madrid. METALWORK 2018, our biennial exhibition and sale is right around the corner. The show is scheduled for November at Membership Information 2 Waverly Street Gallery in Bethesda. Jurying will be in May, and we have two well-established educators, Tom Muir and John Member News 3 Cogswell, as jurors for this year’s show. Prior to jurying, Tom will be giving a WGG workshop on hinges and connections. CERF+ News, Hillwood 4 Interested? Keep tuned for more information. Our 3rd Tuesday events are filling up for this year. For SNAG News, Region Rep! 5 January’s 3rd Tuesday event, we will be casting metal in ice at Cyd’s Kensington studio. February’s focus is metal coloring at our March 3rd Tuesday Teaser 5 3rd Tuesday event. In March, for the 3rd Tuesday, former member Bob Shaw will give us a tour and demonstration in his home Farewell Revere Academy 6 studio. In April, the 3rd Tuesday the challenge will be to create a flower in honor of spring and bring it to the meeting.
