The village of Lukomir is situated at southern ridge of Bjelašnica and, at 1,495 masl, it’s the highest inhabited settlement in BiH and the only one above 1,300 m. Lukomir can be seen as ethnological museum, in which the customs of Dinaric highlanders are still practiced. It’s an important part of BiH’s historical, cultural and architectural legacy and provides a unique atmosphere of going back deep in to the past. Also, the “Stećci“scattered about the village indicate that the village was already inhabited around 14th and 15th century.

The hike

After transfer from Mostar (2,5h) our hike tour begins at village Umoljani and passes along beautiful spring “Studeni potok” with its stunning green valley. The path further follows river canyon all the way to the village of Lukomir. Along the way you can capture magnificent viewpoints of mountains Visocica, Bjelasnica and Treskavica. Once we arrive to the village after few unforgettable memory shots around the village we enjoy national dishes at domestic House (homemade pie). We return on a different route over the peak Obalj (1896 masl) offering views on all mountains of Central Bosnia and North Herzegovina. During our transfer back to Mostar we visit breathtaking Boracko Lake and river Canyon.

Mountains invite you to sharpen your senses 
