He served as Vice-Chancellor of Austria 1991–1995 and was an important reformer of Austrian universities. From January 2002 to June 2008, he served as Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe. david CriekeManS is an assistant professor of international relations at University College Roosevelt, University of Antwerp, and a lecturer at the Ge- neva Institute of Geopolitical Studies. He used to hold academic positions at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels, the Catholic University of Brussels and Jacobs University Bremen. lariS GaiSer is a research fellow at Globis Institute – University of Georgia, USA, and at the Guglielmo Marconi University in Rome. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy. In 2012 and 2013, he served as acting President and Vice-President of the Euro- Mediterranean University (EMUNI). Since April 2012, he has been a member of the Slovenian Foreign Ministry’s Strategic Council and he became the President of the Slovenian Paneuropean Movement in May 2012. 8 Miro haček is a professor of political science and Head of Political Science Department at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lju- bljana. He also teaches at the University of Trento. He used to be a professor at the Hong Kong Baptist University, South Dakota State University, and Hughes Hall in Cambridge. In October 2012, he was elected Vice-President of the Central European Political Science Association (CEPSA). adrian hyde-PriCe is a senior lecturer at the Department of Political Science at the University of Gothenburg, and is a member of the Centre for Eu- ropean Research (CERGU). He was previously professor of interna- tional politics at Bath University, Leicester University, University of Birmingham, University of Southampton, University of Manchester, and Lund University. He has also held several think-tank research positions at Chatham House, the Stockholm Institute of Interna- tional Affairs, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation. valentin inzko is an Austrian diplomat, descendent from the Slovenian national minority in Austria. He currently serves as High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, a role which he assumed on 26 March 2009. Between 2009 and 2011, he also served as EU Special Repre- sentative for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Carlo Jean is an Italian general and researcher, expert in military strategy and geopolitics. He has written numerous articles and publications NOTES ON CONTRIBUTORS 9 on the topic of geopolitics and geoeconomy, making him well re- spected in Italy and around the world. iGor kovač is a Ph.D. student and researcher at the University of Cincinnati, where he focuses on the definition of power and the definition of geopolitics. He is the author of The Power Structure of the Post-Cold War International System (2012). SiMona kukovič is a PhD candidate, research and teaching assistant at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. iMantS vieSturS lieģiS is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Hungary and non-resident Ambassador to Croatia, Monte- negro and Slovenia. During his rich diplomatic career, he has also served as Ambassador to NATO, Benelux countries and Spain. From March 2009 to November 2010, he was Latvian Minister of Defence. leon MarC is a diplomat and publicist. He studied at the University of London, and joined the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993. Apart from his lively diplomatic career, where he has served as the Head of the Sector for South-East Europe, the
