  • Trophyman Romsey Indoor Cricket Cup Round up Division 2 Braishfield Won a Close Contest Against Wellow & Plaitford in a High Scoring Match
Trophyman Romsey Indoor Cricket Cup Round up Division 2 Braishfield won a close contest against Wellow & Plaitford in a high scoring match. Braishfield batted first and both openers W.Bowden 26 and R.Tatnall 26 ensured a good start. Both retired quickly and runs continued to be accumulated at a fast rate as the later batsmen all reached double figures. James Light 23 and K.White 18. In the closing overs the Wellow bowlers found their accuracy and 5 wickets fell in 2 overs. Scott Higgins with 3-18 was the pick of the bowlers as Braishfield finished on 140 all out. The Wellow batsmen were not put off chasing a big total and opener James Sampson 40no led the way. Kieran Hancock 28no helped him push the score along. The later batsmen did struggle as wickets by F.Wilde and Bowden slowed them down. The returning Sampson managed 25 off the final over with the help of extras but they fell agonisingly 4 runs short at 136-3. Wellow & Plaitford 6 pts Braishfield 10pts. Old T’s & Romsey Youth had a comprehensive 161 runs victory over Michelmersh & Timsbury B to stay on top of Division 2. Old T’s openers Steve Smith 34no and John Whytehead quickly got on top of the bowling and both retired within 5 overs. Dan Turrell and Nick Tubb took a wicket each before Rob Newman weighed with 30no. John Whytehead returned to complete a fine half century with some brutal hits to the back wall. Young Harry Arthur bowled well and was unlucky not to take a wicket as Old T’s closed on a massive 198-2.
