Only a few weeks after the 4.3.1 untether created by @i0n1c was released, Apple pushed out firmware 4.3.2. Thankfully, it appears Apple didn’t have a chance to fix the hole used by @i0n1c’s untether, so he ported his code over to 4.3.2’s kernel. Today’s redsn0w has been updated to include it.

The 4.3.2 untether works on all devices that actually support 4.3.2 except for the iPad2:

As always, ultrasn0w unlockers should stay away from redsn0w and only update their firmware through a custom IPSW. We’ll release a new version of PwnageTool sometime this week.

Note that many people are currently having problems updating to 4.3.2 through saurik’s server. WARNING WARNING — ultrasn0w users don’t update yet! See a few paragraphs down! The 4.3.1 untether exploit comes courtesy of Stefan Esser (@i0n1c on twitter), a security researcher based in Germany. Stefan has a long history of vulnerability research, and ironically his first contribution to the iPhone jailbreak community was improved security — last year he beat Apple to the punch and implemented ASLR for jailbroken iPhones with his “antid0te” framework. We’re happy to see that Stefan then turned his iPhone attention over to an untethered jailbreak exploit! The 4.3.1 untether works on all devices that actually support 4.3.1 except for the iPad2: iPhone3GS , iPhone4 (GSM) , iPod touch 3G , iPod touch 4G , iPad1 , AppleTV 2G (PwnageTool only for now) The reason the untether won’t work as-is on the iPad2 is that it requires a bootrom or iBoot-level exploit to install, and the iPad2 is not susceptible to either the limera1n or SHAtter bootrom exploits. WARNING WARNING — ultrasn0w users don’t update yet! We need to first release an update to ultrasn0w that fixes some incompatibilities when FW 4.3.1 is used on the older basebands supported by ultrasn0w. How to install and begin using Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.7 in Windows using VMware workstation 7:

1. In order to know if your PC is capable of virtualization and how to enable it in BIOS please download this software from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual- pc/support/configure-bios.aspx 2. Install VMware workstation 7 (keys are included inside the folder in text file)

3. Put the darwin.iso file to drive: C

4. Put the Snow Leopard VM folder (its 14.5 GB) in any place u want where you have the most space 5. Open VMware Workstation

6. Choose from menu the option: Open Existing VM

7. 8. Now point VMware to the Snow Leopard VM folder

9. 10. Click and open Snow Leopard VM.vmx now VMware will add the mac osx as virtual OS

12. Click Power on this virtual machine and start mac osx

13. If u wants to install applications and mac osx asks for administration password just leave it blank and hit OK button NO PASSWORD NEEDED!!!

If you get ERRORS when starting macosx VMware then here are all the solutions for your problems so read all see which error and solution of that error is for you before you Start mailing me and asking questions:

If u get errors here are allot of fixes for different kind of errors. I have gathered these when answering to people asking me on different kind of errors:

Q: Virtualization error that PC is not capable of virtualization: Enabling Intel VT in bios wasn’t enough for me, I had to change the CPU setting in the VM to VT too, it wouldn’t work with “automatic”. Q: CPU front bus errors: A: in VMware Workstation settings under Options>General>Guest Operating System set it to other> and Version>Other See if it works if not then use this command in boot menu (hit and hold F8 until u get a black screen with 3 choices to choose) to enter boot menu:

-v busratio=10 cpus=1

For Intel i3 M 330 you have to type at the boot: busratio=16

Change the busratio to 7 or 20 or 45 see which one will work

Q: error getting 4 CPU not supported? A: in VMware menu change the 4 CPU to 1 and then start mac osx VMware if still get error of CPU then delete the VMware mac osx and open VMware and click open existing VMware and browse to the new unrared mac osx VMware and before starting mac osx change the CPU to 1

Or add this to .vmx file cpuid.1.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0001:0000:0110:1010:0101"

1. CPU Disabled a. Is you processor 64-bit & VT-X enabled? b. Have you enabled it in BIOS and cold power cycled the machine? c. Get you processor number and check it out here http://ark.intel.com/VTList.aspx d. Some machines e.g. Sony Vaios have a hard lock to stop VT-x. Not much you can do apart from some BIOS hacks floating around the web.

2. Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer a. You have a grey restore DVD which is tied to a specific model. It may be hack able but I haven't tried. b. Get a retail copy from an Apple store!

3. Keyboard and mouse act strange a. Read the manual the solution is in there. b. Upgrade to VMware Workstation 7 or Player 3 as the issues have gone away

4. Guest freezes a. Power settings not set correctly in Leopard or Snow Leopard b. In the manual!

5. Voodoo and SL updates a. Run the setup uninstall command b. Replace with darwin.iso from the zip file c. run the setup install command

6. Shared folders not working a. Workstation 6 - read the manual b. Workstation 7 - no need to the hack just install tools from Darwin SL zip c. Make sure Shared Folders are enabled in VMware d. Make sure you have actually shared something or you will get an error.

10. VMware Server 2 Network a. Network does not connect b. Need to manually edit the guest VMX file and add: ethernet.virtualdev = "e1000 Frequently Asked Questions ------Q1: When I power on a Mac OS X virtual machine, I get the error "Mac OS X is not supported with software virtualization". A1: Mac OS X guest requires that your physical CPU supports Intel VT. However that features is sometimes disabled in the BIOS (this is often the case on Dell computers). To enable it, restart your physical computer, enter the BIOS setup, enable Intel Virtualization Technology, save the new BIOS configuration, and then (that is the important part) cold power off the physical machine. Or add the below command to the .vmx file: cpuid.1.eax = "0000:0000:0000:0001:0000:0110:1010:0101"

Q2: In a virtual machine, the Mac OS X installer does not display any volume, so I cannot select one to install Mac OS X on it. A2: Select "Utilities > Disk Utility" in the menu, select the virtual hard disk at the top of the left pane, click on the "Erase" tab at the top of the right pane, click on the "Erase" button at the Bottom of the right pane, and confirm your choice with the "Erase" button. Wait until the volume is created, then select "Disk Utility > Quit Disk Utility" in the menu. The installer will Now display the new volume. Select the new volume to install Mac OS X on it.

Q3: Can I make the interaction with a Mac OS X virtual machine much smoother? A3: Yes: you need to install "VMware Tools for Mac OS X". If you are using VMware Fusion, select your Mac OS X virtual machine, then select "Virtual Machine > Install VMware Tools" in the menu and follow the instructions. If you are using VMware Workstation, then ask a friend who has installed the latest version of VMware Fusion to send you the file located at "/Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/isoimages/darwin.iso" on his physical machine. Using a USB key thumb or networking, copy this file inside your Mac OS X virtual machine, and open it.

The safe and easy way to activate Windows

This is the loader application that's used by millions of people worldwide, well known for passing Microsoft's WAT (Windows Activation Technologies) and is arguably the safest Windows activation exploit ever created. The application itself injects a SLIC (System Licensed Internal Code) into your system before Windows boots; this is what fools Windows into thinking it's genuine.

Do you have the WAT update installed, KB971033? If yes you may have got flagged as non-genuine. In order to become genuine again just do the following.

Q. I've got Linux on another partition/drive, is there anything I should know? A. Use the preserve current boot code option.

Q. How can I use BitLocker, TrueCrypt or another boot manager? A. First setup the software and then install the loader with the option selected to preserve the current boot code.

Q. I lose activation status after my systems been to sleep or has been in hibernation, can I fix it? A. Go to the advanced options and select to disable type 4 memory, install the loader again and see if that cures it. If you're not cured try to disable type 3 memory instead. If it still fails try selecting the legacy setting.

Q. I installed the loader and my system hangs during the boot process, can I fix it? A. PwnageTool also includes two very recent improvements to the 4.2.1 JB: iBooks was just fixed by @comex and @pushfix last night so that it works as intended on DRMed books, and the wifi problem on AppleTV 2G was fixed by @nitotv, @DHowett, and @saurik. Both of these fixes will also be available in upcoming Cydia package updates, so if you’re already jailbroken you can wait for those updates rather than restore and jailbreak again. Eventually you should move on to the language selection screen, select your language and press the right arrow button.

The Install Mac OS X screen should appear; this is the point we need to prepare the virtual disk for use with OS X, so DO NOT click on the Continue button.

Once in Disk Utility, highlight the VMware virtual disk, then select Partition and change the “Volume Scheme” to “1 Partition” and the “Volume Information Name” from “Untitled 1” to a name of your choice, I generally call it OS X, unimaginative but simple and true! Make sure the “Format” is set to “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)”. Please note if you are installing from ISO you will only see the VMware Virtual S Media in the left window.

Also check under the Options… button that GUID Partition Table is selected.

This will create the OS X partition on the VMware virtual disk ready for the OS X software installation.

Exit Disk Utility via the red button, top left, this will return you to the Mac OS X Installer screen, which you can now click on the Continue button, a software license agreement screen will pop up to which you must agree to continue.

Next you should get the Install Mac OS X “Select the disk where you want to install Mac OS X”, with the OS X disk just created in Disk Utility showing as an option, well in truth the the only option.

Clik on the disk and it will become highlighted and show a green down pointing arrow,

which means the disk is selected and available to be used for the software install.

So go ahead and click on the Install button.

The installation will now progress and will take at least 30 minutes depending on your Laptop / PC specification and whether you are installing from DVD or an image. Time for a cup of tea, perhaps?

If you notice during the install processes there is a banner at the bottom of the screen, inviting you to install the VMware tools, it also has the handy reminder of how to release your mouse and keyboard from within the guestOS window. When you are bored with the banner click on the “Never Remind Me” button as you cannot install the OS X Darwin VMware tools from this banner, or indeed from the “Install VMware Tools…” menu option. We will install the OS X Darwin VMware tools manually later in this tutorial.
