As we reflect back on 2013, we can’t believe how quickly the year flew by. Unfortunately for the children we serve, the clock ticks much slower as they endure the trials and tribulations of chemotherapy and painful procedures. Coming to terms with this harsh reality helps make all your hard work and generous support more impactful for how Friends of Kids with Cancer helps kids with cancer…be kids! Your support of our Educational, Emotional and Recreational Programs provide the tools needed to keep the kids and their families focused during a stressful time in their lives. Your donations help:

• Pay for Art and Play Therapy so that the kids can openly express their feelings, confusion and fear. • Pay for Educational and Motivational Assistance(tutoring) developing self-esteem and motivation while combating long term cognitive effects caused by severe cancer treatments. • Treat a family to a special outing AWAY from his/her treatment center. • Buy toys for the toy closet to help erase all the bad episodes of their painful treatment. • Buy a Special Assistance/Relapse gift to boost their morale and give hope, comfort and energy as they begin their intense treatments.

Every day, kids with cancer, their siblings, and parents are given the opportunity to think, feel, and smile through our educational, emotional, and recreational programs. We don’t just give away toys or candy to sick children; we engage minds, instill confidence, and create a positive atmosphere while these families fight their toughest battle.

Education, school and critical thinking are vital aspects to a child’s growth and development, both mentally and socially. Our team of Educational Specialists facilitate those missing elements while battling the long-term cognitive effects of cancer treatment on the child’s learning ability.

Jake Franzel’s selfless passion was raising money • Dr. Jim Russell conducts ground for teens in treatment breaking baseline tests to detect to receive iPads. Our recreational programs are the cornerstone of our organization. We are able to provide toys, entertainment, gifts, tickets, and many other things in hopes of brightening a patient’s day. Dear Friends of Kids with Cancer, Thank you Friends for everything you have done I don’t know where to even begin to thank for Aiden through is journey this last 9 months! you for all of your help this year. Our trip Your attention to detail is impeccable! It is so to Florida in May would have never been awesome that you take the time to make sure possible without the gift cards from you. The every child gets what they want. It really makes girls had the most amazing time and looking the treatment days a little easier. My son would back, I am so thankful to have that time quickly forget about his bad treatment day when together before Mackenzie got sick again. he got to go to the toy closet and pick out a new Additionally, now that she is sick, it is so nice toy. On those really awful days it was such a to know that we have your organization in our blessing to have a gift card you gave us to treat corner, fighting along with us.
