Under cover report…

Even though the wettest winter in most of our memories is hopefully behind us, damp is still a concern for many if their Sevens are resting up. John Aston shares his experiences of the best-known name in sleeping bags for cars. Carcooning

I’m not one of you tough guys who drives his Seven all I can say is that my cars have always emerged as though they had all year round. I don’t doubt the appeal of a blat on the been in a proper garage. Meeting the neighbours Caterham Club

CCN members at the Knutstorp circuit with the Lotus Club of Sweden. Norway This month we begin a series of features introducing our friends overseas. Colin Johansen tells us about the Seven scene in Norway.

RIght: A winter’s evening meeting with a Series 2.

In the begining… Caterham Club Norway, or ccn, was founded in Sandefjord, Norway on the 5th Ring Knutstorp (a little way north of Malmö) of February 2007 by nine Super Seven enthusiasts. The initial idea was to have a web as well as taking part in other trackdays at page for club members where information on meetings, tours, and trackdays could be the Nürburgring, Spa-Fancorchamps and other circuits in Sweden and Norway. shared and where members could also exchange technical information and questions. The club has evolved since then and now has some fifty members. People come from a wide variety of backgrounds and are spread all over this large country (larger than Germany, but with a population smaller than Scotland); some are more involved in club activities than others, but we all share the same passion –driving Sevens! Although we have the title ‘Caterham Club’, all Seven-type cars are welcomed!

The start of the season Road driving As everyone knows Norway is a cold Driving is, of course, a big part of the Seven country, which means that we have very short ownership experience, and the club arranges a driving season. On the road again

A few words of appreciation from Paul Manning

Firstly, I have to say that I owe Dave a great debt for his determination to get my car back on the road. His ability to encourage other members of the Wilts South group to join in and help was a great bonus too, and as far as I know, no bribery or corruption took place! When I made my original decision (in light of previous experience) not to claim on insurance, I never imagined that it would take so long before the car would get back on the road, nor that because of health issues, it would be so difficult to motivate myself to undertake the work. The fact that so many people were prepared to turn out for several Sundays in a row, and some evenings as well, is a wonderful Wiltshire South showing tremendous example of the spirit of the Club. I would like Club spirit, coming together to help a to reiterate Dave’s thanks to everyone involved fellow member. in donating their valuable free time to help out The years’ worth of neglect and and I am sure that we all learnt a little more accumulated dust and grime had left the cockpit looking rather sad –but about the mechanics of Seven ownership –and nothing this army of helpers couldn’t the value of friendship. } put right in short order.

The Borsetshire Area of the Lotus Seven Club meets each 5th Tuesday of the month at The Bull, Ambridge

The really exciting news this month is that trying to sell him that tatty old Robin Hood I’ve never thought it to be the right place for Nigel Pargetter, still determined to stage his that he bought (without documents) from us. Or, at least, I didn’t until I learned that first Festival of Speed at Lower Loxley, has some bloke down the Cat and Fiddle.
