    How to find Illogan Illogan The Village of Illogan is situated north of the conurbation of Camborne, Pool and Redruth. The village can be approached from the A30 using the A3047 and secondary roads; or from the North Coast road (B3301) which runs between Hayle and Portreath. Village Trail The Ordinance Survey Map reference is SW673 434. From the A30 (Truro/Bodmin or Penzance) Take the exit signed for Redruth. Follow the signs to Camborne and Pool (A3047). Staying on the A3047, pass the Camborne Redruth Hospital on the left, then a garage on the right, and take the second right, signed ‘Chariot Road’. Continue to the five crossroads at Paynters Lane End. This is Point 1 of the Village Trail. From the North Cliffs Road and Portreath (B3301) At the top of the Tregea Hill, Portreath, turn and follow the signs to Illogan. Continue along the road, and at the East Lodge gates to Tehidy Woods, turn left into Alexandra Road. Continue to the five crossroads at Paynters Lane End. This is Point 1 of the Village Trail.     HELFORD RIVER SURVEY A survey of the Pisces (Fish) of the Helford Estuary A Report to the Helford Voluntary Marine Conservation Area Group funded by the World Wide Fund for Nature U.K. and English Nature P A Gainey 1999 1 Summary The Helford Voluntary Marine Conservation Area (hereafter HVMCA) was designated in 1987 and since that time a series of surveys have been carried out to examine the flora and fauna present. In this study no less that eighty species of fish have been identified within the confines of the HVMCA. Many of the more common fish were found to be present in large numbers. Several species have been designated as nationally scarce whilst others are nationally rare and receive protection at varying levels. The estuary is obviously an important nursery for several species which are of economic importance. A full list of the fish species present and the protection some of them receive is given in the Appendices Nine species of fish have been recorded as new to the HVMCA. Local residents objected and the matter is still under consideration, as is a similar application at Cala- mansack, near Port Navas. Also, the Parish considered a proposal for a housing estate outside Port Navas, which was thought to be unsuitable. Car parking was also on the agenda, as the tortuous extension to the Church Hall space is nearing completion. Thanks to our County Councillor Neil Hatton, who extracted £3000 from the County Highways, the Parish purse was so much the heavier. Elsewhere, inconsiderate parking led to complaints which were transmitted to the same authority. It is with satisfaction that we are not af- fected by the County's increase in car parking charges, as ours are free at the point of use (if not to the rate payers). Not so to the costs of burials, which have been raised considerably County-wide. The Parish received a proposal to increase its tariff substantially but decided on only minor changes. Crimes have been of a minor sort, but not so to those concerned. Driving acci- dents can cause injuries as well as fines; an assault is always unwelcome to the victim and thefts an inconvenience, if not worse, to the losers. Happily, some offenders get sentenced, as has happened recently to the house trashers at Wheal Vyvyan.

Dissolved Copper concentrations increased by 0.4 p.g/1 between WSTW1517FE and R25B019, causing exceedence of the 1.0 pg/1 standard at R25B019. The St. Lawrence Stream being estimated to have contributed to 100% of this increase (again calculated from theoretical flows).
