The increase is mainly being driven by rises in offences such as violence without injury and Criminal Damage; The volume of anti-social behaviour has stayed fairly stable (a small reduction of 4%), which is consistent with the trend across other large towns. The rate of reported Street Drinking incidents is reducing which opposes the trend seen across the other towns. The area has a significantly higher rate of recorded domestic abuse than the average for other large towns in Cornwall and this is consistent with previous years; Using prevalence estimates from the Crime Survey for England and Wales, we can estimate that 680 people in Camborne were victims of domestic abuse in the last 12 months, of which two thirds were female and a third male; Camborne has seen a rise in the number of rapes reported (12 offences, which equates to 80%), which is a greater rate of increase than that seen in Cornwall and other town areas – increases of 50% (100 offences) and 58% (154 offences) respectively. The rate of these offences in Camborne is also above average when compared with other urban areas.
