Rabodirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2013/14 ROUND 20 REVIEWS RaboDirect PRO12 PREVIEW 2013/14 Round 12 Rearranged: 26 April 2014 ROUND 20 REVIEWS With just two full rounds left to go in the RaboDirect PRO12 regular season, the remaining rescheduled game takes place on Saturday at Scotstoun, where Glasgow Warriors will be looking to turn their game in hand into points in their march to claim a Play-Off spot. Should they succeed they could break the Irish hold at the top of the table, and lift themselves into contention for a home Play-Off. Following last weekend’s results, Leinster confirmed their place in the Play-Offs for a 5th straight year but they are not quite yet assured top seeding and a home game. The other three Play –Off places are still up for grabs, with four teams, Munster, Ulster, Glasgow and Ospreys, still in contention. Scarlets defeat by Cardiff Blues in the Judgement Day double header at the Millennium Stadium denied them the chance to secure their European Rugby Cup berth next season, but they still have two further local derbies to stake their claim. Zebre’s 4th win of this season’s campaign, their first over Scottish opponents, closed the gap to 4 points with Treviso in the battle for the Italian qualification place. ROUND 12 REARRANGED FIXTURE Saturday 26 April GLASGOW WARRIORS v EDINBURGH RUGBY At Scotstoun Stadium, 7.05pm. A Glasgow Warriors victory would see them climb from 4th to 2nd spot in the RaboDirect PRO12 table with just two rounds of the regular season to go. The Warriors have won their last five PRO12 encounters since their 25-8 defeat to Leinster at the RDS on 1st March. Glasgow have also won their last five contests at Scotstoun in all competitions since Toloun beat them there in the European Cup on 18th January. Edinburgh Rugby have won only one of their last five PRO12 fixtures: 23-19 over Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade on 3rd April – their only away win in the tournament this season. Glasgow have won their last four matches against Edinburgh since the 23-all draw at Murrayfield on Boxing Day 2011. Edinburgh have visited Scotstoun just once before, losing 23-14 in the PRO12 on 21st December 2012. • Rabodirect PRO12 : PREVIEW 2012/13
RaboDirect PRO12 : PREVIEW 2012/13 Round 18: 22ND & 23RD March 2013 ROUND 18 PREVIEWS With just five rounds left to decide which teams will contest the Play-Offs, there is a new leader of the RaboDirect PRO12 with Glasgow Warriors taking over the mantle from Ulster, whilst for the fourth round in succession, Ospreys swapped places with Scarlets in the Play-Off Zone. Three of those teams are in action on Friday night; Ulster traveling to Edinburgh, Ospreys hosting Welsh rivals Newport Gwent Dragons, and Scarlets in Italy to face Zebre. Edinburgh can do their Scottish neighbours, Warriors, a favour if they can defeat Ulster however their record against the Ulstermen is not great. Meanwhile Ospreys and Scarlets must both be looking to come away with maximum points from opponents who are sitting at the wrong end of the table in their bids to reach the Play-Offs. The leaders, Glasgow Warriors, are not in action until Saturday, and are the only one of the potential Play-Off teams to face another side from the top half of the table when the visit Leinster at the RDS. Munster will also be looking for maximum points in the All-Irish clash against Connacht if they are to make a final push for the knockout stages. With just two points separating the top three teams in the table, whilst it is even closer for the final Play Off spot, there is definitely all to play for still as the RaboDirect PRO12 enters its closing stages. ROUND 18 FIXTURES Friday 22 March EDINBURGH RUGBY v ULSTER At Murrayfield, 7.30pm.
