Sacred Space At 6.00pm in the Eastern , join us for a special Lent Sacred Space, a meditation-led service with Taizé. The service is followed by Lenten refreshments.  THIS WEEK Bristol Time As part of our Lenten observance and city outreach, we are launching Bristol Time, a series of 10 minute reflections which will take place between 7.30am and 8.30am every Monday in Lent, starting tomorrow, Monday 6 March. The same reflection is repeated every 15 minutes. undivided Lecture The first lecture in the undivided series is also on Monday 6 March, at 7.00pm in the Chapter House. For more information on these Lenten observances, please refer to the booklet At the foot of the Cross. Lunchtime Recital On Tuesday 7 March, Paul Bowen will give an organ recital. Admission is free, and all are welcome. While Stations of the Cross started on Friday, and will continue at midday on Fridays throughout Lent, the scheduled Stations for Friday 10 March has sadly had to be cancelled. Choral Alumni On Saturday 11 March, Choral Evensong will be attended by the BCCA. If you know anyone who is an old chorister, do put them in touch with the BCCA via [email protected]. Films at the Cathedral Also on Saturday 11 March, at 7.00pm, the Cathedral is joining with the Bristol Film Festival to present the classic silent film The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The film will be accompanied by a live organ improvisation by renowned and composer, Dr David Bednall.  NEXT WEEK Lenten Observances Bristol Time, the undivided Lecture series, Stations of the Cross, continue each week through Lent (just during March for the lectures). Lunchtime Recital On Tuesday 14 March, the choir of St Paul’s School, Concorde, New Hampshire will give a recital. Admission is free, and all are welcome. The choir will also be joining the Cathedral Choir to sing Evensong at 5.15pm on the same day. Elijah On Saturday 18 March, in Clifton Cathedral, at 7.45pm, the Cathedral Consort joins Bristol Phoenix Choir and Orchestra for an evening of famine, flood, earthquake, wind and fire in the form of a performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah. Four of the five soloists are present or past members of Bristol Cathedral Choirs, and the soprano is a member of The Sixteen. [email protected]  BEYOND Open Fellowship (the second Tuesday of each month after Choral Evensong) March meeting: This year’s right through (on Saturday 1 April at 10.30am) will be a recitation by Stefan Smart, who has presented the Gospel at a number of Speakers’ Corners. Stefan joins us, to talk about the rich experiences so far, and is looking forward to our questions.  GENERAL Nigel Nash Some of you may know that our Assistant Verger, Nigel, was hospitalised last month following a heart attack. Nigel continues to recover at home. He came to the Cathedral during the week to visit, and would like to thank all those who have in turn visited him, sent cards, wished him well, and prayed for him. Envelope Giving Scheme If you would like to support the Cathedral, but you are unable to commit to a direct debit, please consider joining our Envelope Scheme. The envelopes are numbered for each week of the year, and contributors can give as much as they are able to, on a weekly basis. We have a few spare sets of envelopes, to start in March or April.
