Your Kindle uses your Amazon.com account information for purchases.

Connect to the Kindle Store

You connect to the Kindle Store over Kindle's built-in wireless feature.

To connect to the Kindle Store:

1. Move the wireless switch on the back of your Kindle to ON. 2. Check the wireless status indicator at the bottom of the screen to make sure that you are connected. 3. Press the Home key. 4. Use the select wheel to select Menu at the bottom of the screen. 5. Select Shop in Kindle Store.

A Wireless Connecting message appears at the bottom of the page and then the Kindle Store storefront appears.

The Kindle Store has several default shopping categories, including content type, best sellers, and recommendations. You can also choose navigation options from the Kindle Store menu.

Browse by Product Category

The Browse the Kindle Store section in the Kindle Store displays a list of currently available , newspapers, magazines, and blogs.

To browse by category: Select a category from the Browse the Kindle Store section at the top of the Kindle Storefront. A list of subject categories appears with the number of titles currently available in each. After you select a subject category, you may see additional subcategories. Select View Subcategories at the top of the page to access the subcategories.

Search the Kindle Store

The search feature in the Kindle Store allows you to find content by keyword.

To search the Kindle Store: Type your search terms into the Search Store text box at the bottom of the screen and select Go. You can use a single word or phrases for your search terms. Results from the Kindle Store display on the next page.

We display search results by relevance to the search terms you entered. To browse through the results, use the Next Page and Prev Page buttons on your Kindle.

View Product Details

You can view the product details page to see more information about an item and the available purchase and delivery options. The product details for newspapers, magazines, and blogs are similar to the details pages for books, but they also contain subscription information.

To view the product details page: Place the cursor next to the desired title and press the select wheel.

Make a Purchase

To buy an item, move the cursor to the Buy link and press the select wheel. After you select Buy, your purchase is charged to your default 1-Click payment method on your Amazon.com account.

Your items are sent wirelessly to your Kindle. The message Items Downloaded appears at the bottom of the screen when your item has finished downloading. If the download is not successful, or if it is interrupted, Kindle attempts the download again automatically when connected wirelessly.

Order Titles Not Yet Released

Some books that are not yet released are available in the Kindle Store with "pre-order" in the title. The 's detail page shows an estimated release date and a Pre-order button.

Click the Pre-order button on your Kindle to place your order. When the title is published, we charge your default 1-Click payment method and deliver it to your Kindle.

Multiple orders may be combined into one transaction. Combined transactions appear as a single charge on your credit or debit card billing statement. When we combine your purchases into a single transaction, we send you an order confirmation email listing the individual items purchased.

Your Payment Method

When you buy books or other items directly from your Kindle, we charge the default 1-Click Payment Method on your Amazon.com account.

Use Gift Cards for Kindle Purchases

You are not required to have a credit or debit card on your Amazon.com account to purchase Kindle books. You must set a default 1-Click billing address on your Amazon.com account to use an Amazon.com Gift Card for Kindle purchases. Enter your gift card claim code into Your Account so the balance is available for use. The Amazon.com Gift Card will be applied automatically to your next purchase.
