To Jesus, who had blessed them close folded to his breast, The children sang their praises, the simplest and the best. As we also raise branches of palms and sing “Hosanna,” help us remember that the one who came in the name of the Lord, came for our redemption and restoration. Forgive our sins and cleanse us. Show us ever more clearly how to follow Christ Jesus all the way to the cross. Silent Confession Assurance of Pardon Believe the good news of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Congregation We are pilgrims on a journey all together on the road. We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load. When we sing to God in heaven, we shall find such harmony Born of all we’ve known together of Christ’s love and agony. Richard Gillard 3 p Affirmation of Faith Rev. Evangeline Taylor In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, who alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition. Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his human life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to eternal life. from A Brief Statement of Faith, 1983 Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer Offering of Tithes and Gifts Sanctus Charles Gounod from Messe Solennelle Sanctus, sanctus, sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth, pleni sunt coeli et terra Gloria tua.
