FROM THE FIM EUROPE PRESIDENT Dear Presidents of the European Federations, Ladies and GentLemen! “United We Stand Strong” is the motto of the Repu- bLic of BuLgaria for the Presidency of the CounciL of the European Union for the first six months of 2018 – and is aLso the perfect motto for FIM Europe. CLose cooperation, unity and soLidarity of the Euro- pean Federations are of high importance for the fu- ture deveLopment and growth. 2017 has been a year fuLL of activities in the areas of sport as weLL as beyond sport, of training as weLL as education – aLL carried out by the European Fe- derations. The 23rd FIM Europe Congress (after the foundation of UEM in 1996) in Rome was one of the most successfuL ever, as 39 (out of 47) Federations and more than 250 deLegates have been present. A great atmosphere was again a perfect opportunity for con- tacts and networKing among Federations and deLegates. As in the previous years there was a Live stream of the GeneraL AssembLy, giving the chance to watch the meeting via internet - a strong signaL not onLy for transparency but aLso a service for those who were not abLe to attend. The proJect “CONUs vs Regions” was high on the agenda in 2017. However, after a worKshop at the FIM GeneraL AssembLy in Andorra it was agreed not to go on, as many questions remained open. We at FIM Europe have a Long term experience with the current system of six RegionaL Associations within Europe, serving the sport in their respective area (AAMU ALpe-Adria MotorcycLe Union, AMM Association Mèditerranéenne de MotocycLisme, BMA BaLtic MotorcycLists Association, BMU BaLKan MotorcycLe Union, MACEC MotorcycLe Association of CentraL European Countries, NMC Nordic Motorsport CounciL). RegionaL Cham- pionships are successfuLLy organized at affordabLe costs without traveLLing too Long distances. The deveLopment of the sport, especiaLLy on grassroots LeveL and in cLose coope- ration with the NationaL Federations is our core business. We beLieve in the modeL of the pyramid: from NationaL Championships via ContinentaL Championships to WorLd Championships. We have to ensure that taLents get the best possibLe con- ditions to deveLop to the top of the sport. The harmonization of ruLes, sporting as weLL as technicaL on aLL LeveLs is a permanent tasK. An impressive number of 40 Championships have been organized in 2017, as weLL as 20 Cups. AL L in aLL, a big number of aLmost 400 races have been staged. The Federations are worKing hard to expand the range of competition within the various sports. The Sport Commissions met in two sessions in October and No- vember; evaLuating the period from the Congress in Rome and preparing the 2018 season. The presence of FIM Commission Directors was most weLcome and underLines the good cooperation with FIM and FIM Europe Commissions. It is worth to mention that aLmost aLL discipLines are organized on European LeveL, LiKe www.fim-europe.com FIM EUROPE ANNUAIRE 2018 - 7 PAGINE BIANCHE 2018 - 01.qxp_Layout 1 05/03/18 12:14 Pagina 8 tobaLL, Le Motocross, Les Courses sur Route, Le Motoneige, Le Supercross, Le Super- Moto, Les Courses sur Pistes, Le TriaL et Le Vintage. • M1ller Wins 4 Ktm!
2014-03-24 13:09 CET M1LLER WINS 4 KTM! Jack Miller who had a front row start swooped to the front at the start of the race shadowed by Spaniard Alex Marquez. The two riders then settled down to swap the lead back and forth and at one point had a 3.5 second lead on the rest of the pack. Miller who before then race had pledged to be patient and go for the maximum points, played his hand well. Going into the final corners the Australian was perfectly placed to capitalize on a small mistake by rival Marquez. Marquez went wide in the corner, Miller quickly grabbed the advantage and went on to take line honors and pick up maximum points in the opening round. Immediately after the race, an excited Miller said he had gone all out in the final lap. “It was pretty scary going into the final lap because the tires were more worn than I expected them to be. But I just gave it my all. We couldn't have asked for anything better. It was a really good first race. Its a great way to start the season, but its that. Its the start. We still have a long way to go and I still have a lot to learn." Miller’s teammate Karel Hanika, who won his berth in the factory team after taking victory in the 2013 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup rode a solid race from nineteenth position on the grid to finish in fourteenth place to pick up his first world championship points in his debut race.
