The Telecommunications Networks Test Division of Agilent Technologies (formerly Hewlett-Packard) in Scotland introduced the first jitter measurement instrument in 1982 for PDH rates up to E3 and DS3, followed by one of the first 140 Mb/s jitter testers in 1984. In this paper we want to present some of the most commonly used noise filtering techniques namely: Median filter, Gaussian filter, Kuan filter, Morphological filter, Homomorphic Filter, Bilateral Filter and wavelet filter. Median filter is used for reducing the amount of intensity variation from one pixel to another pixel. Gaussian filter is a smoothing filter in the 2D convolution operation that is used to remove noise and blur from image. Kuan filtering technique transforms multiplicative noise model into additive noise model. Morphological filter is defined as increasing idempotent operators and their laws of composition are proved. Homomorphic Filter normalizes the brightness across an image and increases contrast. Bilateral Filter is a non-linear edge preserving and noise reducing smoothing filter for images. Wavelet transform can be applied to image de-noising and it has been extremely successful. -

FNS is indicated as a basic standard of the immunity type test which reproduces the malfunction by the noise phenomenon of switching ON/OFF and adopted not only in Europe but also world-wide. The 1st edition of Standard for this test was issued as IEC801-4 in IEC TC65 (Industrial Process Controls) in 1988. Then, in order to adopt to all the electric devices, IEC1000-4-4 was issued in 1995. Moreover, in order to differenciate the numbering between ISO and IEC, “60000” has been added to the Stadanrd number.
