The collection also includes sale catalogues of builders' merchants; papers re alterations to Glapthorn school 1911-1912; papers re repairs to Cotterstock and Glapthorn churches 1928; miscellaneous bills and receipts 1909-1953; domestic rates and insurance papers 1919-1936; North Northamptonshire Musical competition programmes 1933 and 1939, Oundle and Cotterstock District Nursing Association reports and accounts 1925-1936, sale particulars of Cotterstock Hall estate, 1927, and miscellaneous personal papers. ZB 664/ Day book giving details of the building work done each day, where done and for whom, and the hours worked by different individuals, mainly, 'B', 'W' and 'E'. Sometimes included are details of building materials used and their cost. Inside the front cover is written 'George Baxter, builder and contractor, Cotterstock' ' January 1903 - November 1909 includes loose: - details of work to be done and estimates of cost; .- part of an exercise book containing details of work done, where done and for whom, hours worked and the cost of building materials; also includes an account of the Cotterstock estate with G Baxter entitled "Horses time for carting' covering January - May 1906 with details of journeys undertaken carrying wood, manure, furniture, pigs, rubbish and a lawn mower, and costs. - - - .: 1904-1910 page from 'The Builder1 of 7 May 1892, containing an architectural drawing of the monument of the late Mrs Rowley in St Neots church, Huntingdonshire, with, on the reverse, rough pencil notes of building work. Sometimes included are details of building materials used and their cost. The entries consist of what is recorded on the inside of the front and back covers, the rest of the book being missing. January 1934 and March 1938 7 Notebook, containing rough notes of building work done, where done and for whom and the hours worked by various individuals; also some details of building materials used and their cost. 1895-1903 includes loose: bill of Hayward and Towel! Ltd. of North St and Lincoln Rd, Peterborough, general hardware merchants and manufacturering ironmongers for a 1 inch wire lath; 21 March 1934. - cutting from unidentified newspaper about slates and the mining of slates at Collyweston ZB 664/ 8. Note book, with entries giving date, name of individual, building materials such as cement, lime, sand or gravel they had, and sometimes the cost; occasionally brief details of work done at a property; also details of carting building materials, manure and coffins, with hours worked by horse and man and cost sometimes g^en. 1941-1952 includes loose: - Registration card of Edward William Baxter, aged 29, bricklayer, of Cotterstock, registered under the National Registration Act 1915; endorsed with note that Baxter was rejected as medically unfit, 11 December 1915. - Defence Regulation 56A Building Licensing, detailing the financial limits to spending on a property without a licence between 1 February and 1 July 1948. - Printed army card setting out length of paces, number of paces to the minute and distance covered by soldiers marching and drilling; also descriptions identifying officers' ranks (undated). 9 Estimate book, containing detailed descriptions of building work to be done on many properties in Cotterstock and neighbouring parishes often giving the name of the property and its occupier with estimates of the cost of building materials and labour. 1923-1933' includes loose: - rough estimates and calculations of costs. - card of George F Pears of Braunstone Hotel, Narborough Road, Leicester. - letter: ES Mi Hard of Huntingdon Rd, Thrapston, to Mr Baxter 21 May 1931 roof of cottage of Mrs Rawson in Victoria Yard, Oundle needs repair if you call she will show you where the wet comes in . please submit estimate which I must submit to landlord 10. As ZB 664/14, but dated 1936. 16 Hand book of knitting and crocheting produced by Scotch Wool and Hosiery Stores of 10 Long Causeway, Peterborough, the registered trading name of Fleming, Reid & Co Limited, The Worsted Mills, Greenock, Scotland (undated) 17 Egyptian Dream Book, containing interpretations of dreams and details of many kidney or alleged kidney related diseases, with many statements by people in favour of Doan's Backache Kidney Pills as the cure for these; details of the problems caused by piles, eczema and shingles and statements in favour of Doan's Ointment as a cure for these and advertisements for Doan's Dinner Pills as a cure for liver and bilious problems. - also included is a "declaration of purity' by Edwin McClellan, managing director of Doan's Backache Kidney Pill Co of 8 Wells Street, Oxford Street, London, made 29 April 1902. - book produced by the proprietors Foster-McClellan Co of the same address. c.1902 ZB 664/ 18 Doan's Dictionary and Almanack, containing a calendar and a dictionary giving the spellings and definitions of 9000 words, also containing statements in favour of Doan's products as in ZB 664/17. 1911 19 General catalogue and price list of The New Expanded Metal Company Limited, of York Mansion, York Street, Westminster, London, manufacturers of expanded metal lathing and expanded metal cup lathing. January 1907 20/1 Advertisement for a Moule's Earth Closet, manufacturered by Moule's Patent Earth Closet Company Limited of 2 Guilford Street, Russell Square, London WC 20/2 Printed memorandum from Moule's expressing thanks for the customer's order and enclosing an invoice.
