PRESS RELEASE 2013-119 Schmitz Cargobull (UK) Ltd PRESS RELEASE 2013-119 Schmitz Cargobull (UK) Ltd 29 July 2013 NEW SCHMITZ CARGOBULL TRAILERS STEAL THE LIMELIGHT IN RUSSIA Entertainment industry transport firm Luckings Ltd has added four new Schmitz Cargobull S.KO MEGA FP25 dryfreight box van trailers to its growing line-up. The four new tri-axle trailers are additions to the 40 Schmitz Cargobull assets currently in service in the company’s 100-strong trailer fleet, supported by 40 trucks and light commercial vehicles. They will be used to move entertainment equipment and sets across Europe and the UK for theatre productions, film shows and live television events on a seven-day per week basis. Schmitz Cargobull secured the contract to supply the new trailers following a competitive three-way tender. For Nick Dooner, Owner of Luckings Ltd, Schmitz Cargobull’s speed of response and willingness to meet customer demands proved to be the decisive factor in the selection process. He says: “Working in the entertainment industry, one week we could be setting up for a show in the West End and the next we are doing the X-Factor. “The main reason we chose Schmitz Cargobull was because the nature of our work is very time sensitive, so we needed a reliable manufacturer that could meet our rigorous demands and Schmitz delivered on all fronts. “Our vehicles travel throughout Europe so Schmitz’s network of service locations and parts support is also integral to the smooth running of our business.” /more Schmitz Cargobull (UK) Ltd Tarporley Road, Lower Whitley, Warrington, WA4 4EZ On receipt of the new deliveries from Schmitz Cargobull’s Vreden factory in Germany, they were immediately sent to Russia as part of a six-trailer fleet transporting the set for Matthew Vaughn’s production of ‘Sleeping Beauty’. They are then due to join up with Disney’s ‘Lion King’ international tour in Ireland before returning to the UK. The new additions, which are expected to be in service for at least 10 years and will operate out of Luckings’ main base in Reading, are equipped with under slung ramp holders for ease of loading and unloading, plus a height adjustable air suspension. They are also fitted with LED lighting systems for evening and night work. All four trailers have been built with Schmitz Cargobull’s own ROTOS® running gear, which features a complete range of unique innovations as standard, including a maintenance-free bearing, an innovative ventilation system for the disc brakes, the weight-optimised brake calliper, the multi-ride-height pneumatic suspension for every ramp height along with the standard trailer EBS (Electronic Braking System) with RSP (Roll Stability Program). The fully integrated turkey producer – which operates farms in Norfolk, Suffolk and Lincolnshire – says it has gradually converted its fleet to Schmitz Cargobull over the last seven years due to competitive pricing and an ability for the trailers to stand-up to the rigours of its demanding transport operations. “Our fleet is really put through its paces on a daily basis,” said Jeffrey Helmore, Transport Manager at Bernard Matthews. “This requires equipment which not only copes with our gruelling schedules, but that has the longevity to perform as well on day one as it does two, three or even seven years down the line. “Regularly maintaining and servicing a fleet is all well and good, but if the initial product isn’t up to scratch in the first place, it means very little. With Schmitz Cargobull we get a good solid trailer and that’s why we keep coming back for more,” he added. The eight new trailers – each equipped with Vector™ 1550 mono-temperature refrigeration units from Carrier Transicold – join Bernard Matthews’ 33-strong reefer fleet and will be deployed between its production facilities in Norfolk and Suffolk, and its distribution centres to transport both fresh meat as well as frozen and chilled finished products.

The new arrivals join 20 other Schmitz units as APM Commercials expands its fleet, which has grown from 15 to more than 90 assets in less than a year. APM Commercials Managing Director Steve Gilboy says: “As an HGV maintenance and repair specialist, and more specifically as a Schmitz Cargobull service partner for the past 14 years, we are no stranger to the product. We are still running reefers we bought from Schmitz Cargobull in 2008, and all of them have stood the test of time. Our rental clients require a robust trailer that needs to withstand a lot of punishment and we just know that Schmitz Cargobull’s curtainsiders will rise to the challenge.” The new trailers – which comply with DIN EN 12642 Code XL load security regulations and are equipped with a bulkhead specific for the British and Irish markets – will be utilised on a paper transport contract for logistics specialist Handtrans and will be liveried in the customer’s colours. Manufactured at Schmitz Cargobull’s state-of-the-art facilities in Altenberge, the new assets are built on the trailer manufacturer’s galvanised GENIOS chassis with three reinforced posts per side.     2 September 2014 P&O Ferrymasters lifts CEE trailer capacity Pan-European logistics specialist P&O Ferrymasters is expanding its CEE fleet by leasing a further 300 trailers from TIP Trailer Services in a new seven-year deal with one of Europe’s leading equipment services providers. The deal covers 200 coilers for deployment in central Europe and 100 huckepack trailers to boost the P&O Ferrymasters intermodal fleet operating on rail services from Rotterdam and Zeebrugge to Eastern Europe and vice versa. Manufactured by Germany’s Schmitz Cargobull AG, all the new trailers will feature the company’s recently updated logo, which gives a more modern look to the familiar P&O Ferrymasters flag emblem to underline the company’s place in today’s ultra-contemporary freight market. The latest agreement with TIP maintains a close 12-year relationship that also includes trailer maintenance.
