A country of engineers Past and present, Lithuania has always been a country of engineers. Throughout the 20th century, the quality of Lithuanian produce was widely recognised, from ‘Snaige’ an award winning refrigerators manufacturer through to globally accepted TV sets ‘Silelis’ produced by Kaunas radio factory in 1972. In the 21st century, Lithuania‘s region-leading engineering universities (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and Kaunas University of Technology) are producing the next generation of skilled specialists to work in a sector that counts for 20% of the country‘s GDP. A proactive approach Lithuanian specialists don’t just complete tasks, they are proactive in finding optimum solutions to maximize efficiency, as German manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull has discovered. With its team of dedicated and skilled professionals, the company’s Lithuanian facility, established in 1999, has become a leader for profitability and efficiency across the group’s international operations. That’s why management systems created by the Lithuanian team are now used in Schmitz Cargobull’s German factories. And it is why the company plans to invest a further €20 million into its Lithuanian operations over the next 7 years. Strong, stable infrastructure For international investors in the manufacturing sector, Lithuania has become a byword for convenience and reliability in terms of its infrastructure. The country is a member of the BRELL energy ring and recent new connections have fully integrated it into the Nord Pool Spot.

  • Bernard Matthews Farms Leans on Schmitz Cargobull to Stand up to the Rigours of the Job
PRESS RELEASE 2012-140 Schmitz Cargobull (UK) Ltd 26 September 2012 BERNARD MATTHEWS FARMS LEANS ON SCHMITZ CARGOBULL TO STAND UP TO THE RIGOURS OF THE JOB The most recognised turkey farming company in the UK, Bernard Matthews Farms, is completing its transition to a 100 per cent Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated fleet with the arrival of eight new trailers from the manufacturer, four of which feature the company’s striking new ‘Lean on Turkey’ livery. The fully integrated turkey producer – which operates farms in Norfolk, Suffolk and Lincolnshire – says it has gradually converted its fleet to Schmitz Cargobull over the last seven years due to competitive pricing and an ability for the trailers to stand-up to the rigours of its demanding transport operations. “Our fleet is really put through its paces on a daily basis,” said Jeffrey Helmore, Transport Manager at Bernard Matthews. “This requires equipment which not only copes with our gruelling schedules, but that has the longevity to perform as well on day one as it does two, three or even seven years down the line. “Regularly maintaining and servicing a fleet is all well and good, but if the initial product isn’t up to scratch in the first place, it means very little. With Schmitz Cargobull we get a good solid trailer and that’s why we keep coming back for more,” he added. The eight new trailers – each equipped with Vector™ 1550 mono-temperature refrigeration units from Carrier Transicold – join Bernard Matthews’ 33-strong reefer fleet and will be deployed between its production facilities in Norfolk and Suffolk, and its distribution centres to transport both fresh meat as well as frozen and chilled finished products.

PRESS RELEASE 2016-161 Schmitz Cargobull UK and Ireland 17 August 2016 SCHMITZ CARGOBULL BUILDS ON LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP WITH A SCORE OF TOUGH NEW CURTAINSIDERS FOR APM COMMERCIALS Schmitz Cargobull has delivered 20 fixed-roof curtainsiders to APM Commercials, the first of the newly launched UK and Ireland-spec trailers to join the Lincolnshire-based company’s rental fleet. The new arrivals join 20 other Schmitz units as APM Commercials expands its fleet, which has grown from 15 to more than 90 assets in less than a year. APM Commercials Managing Director Steve Gilboy says: “As an HGV maintenance and repair specialist, and more specifically as a Schmitz Cargobull service partner for the past 14 years, we are no stranger to the product. We are still running reefers we bought from Schmitz Cargobull in 2008, and all of them have stood the test of time. Our rental clients require a robust trailer that needs to withstand a lot of punishment and we just know that Schmitz Cargobull’s curtainsiders will rise to the challenge.” The new trailers – which comply with DIN EN 12642 Code XL load security regulations and are equipped with a bulkhead specific for the British and Irish markets – will be utilised on a paper transport contract for logistics specialist Handtrans and will be liveried in the customer’s colours. Manufactured at Schmitz Cargobull’s state-of-the-art facilities in Altenberge, the new assets are built on the trailer manufacturer’s galvanised GENIOS chassis with three reinforced posts per side. Constructed using the company’s proprietary bolt on/bolt off technology – which allows easy maintenance – the trailer’s Schmitz Cargobull (UK) Ltd Tarporley Road, Lower Whitley, Warrington, WA4 4EZ manufacturing process is also more sustainable, as fewer carbon emissions are produced through reduced welding of the main chassis beam.

2 September 2014 P&O Ferrymasters lifts CEE trailer capacity Pan-European logistics specialist P&O Ferrymasters is expanding its CEE fleet by leasing a further 300 trailers from TIP Trailer Services in a new seven-year deal with one of Europe’s leading equipment services providers. The deal covers 200 coilers for deployment in central Europe and 100 huckepack trailers to boost the P&O Ferrymasters intermodal fleet operating on rail services from Rotterdam and Zeebrugge to Eastern Europe and vice versa. Manufactured by Germany’s Schmitz Cargobull AG, all the new trailers will feature the company’s recently updated logo, which gives a more modern look to the familiar P&O Ferrymasters flag emblem to underline the company’s place in today’s ultra-contemporary freight market. The latest agreement with TIP maintains a close 12-year relationship that also includes trailer maintenance. P&O Ferrymasters assets director Wim Blomme says: “This stage of our asset renewal programme takes our Europe-wide trailer fleet to a total of 1,400 units and meets particular demand for extra capacity in key growth markets in central and eastern Europe. The fleet will be further expanded on a similar scale in 2015.” Rogier Laan, European commercial leader at Amsterdam-based TIP, adds: “Delivery of the new trailers started in July and will be completed in September.
