Typhoon Yolanda MNO Updates Additional Emergency Telecoms Activities 18-11-2013 Globe Globe has reported restoration of 22 additional cell sites across 14 typhoon hit areas. This restoration focused primarily on Leyte, Samar and Panay islands Globe is driving a campaign to collect old and used mobile devices to be distributed to affected populations A Globe Libreng Tawag station has been set up at the DOLE Tacloban office providing affected people international calls to contact relatives abroad Globe has deployed 7 free mobile charging stations in Cebu and 11 charging stations in Leyte Globe continues to collect donations for the Philippines Red Cross through its GCash donation and promote access to Tyhpoon-related information through free Facebook access on their network Viber has released a service called Viber Out, which allows calls to regular (non Viber) numbers. All Viber Out calls to Globe Telecom subscribers in the Philippines are currently free. As new network restoration percentages are not yet available for today, please see the following list from Globe for information on restoration across municipalities affected by the typhoon: Globe has so far restored 91% of its network in Cebu; 98% in Negros Occidental, 97% in Negros Oriental, 87% in Bohol; 75% in Southern Leyte; 75% in Northern Samar and 77% in Iloilo and 61% in Antique (*information below taken from http://beta.globe.com.ph/press-room/cellular- coverage-in-14-more-typhoon-hit-areas) Cellular services are now available in the towns of Makato and New Washington in Aklan; Anilao, Banate, Barotac Viejo in Iloilo; Palompon in Leyte; Gandara, San Sebastian, Marabut, Motiong, Paranas, Pinabacdao, Tarangnan in Samar and Anahawan in Southern Leyte Complete list of municipalities in Leyte that are now under cellular coverage are as follows: Bato, Hilongos, Inopacan, Kananga, Matag-ob, Matalom, Palompon, Santa Fe and the cities of Baybay, Ormoc and Tacloban. In Southern Leyte, municipalities with cellular service include Anahawan,Bontoc, Hinundayan, Libagon, Lilo-an, Macrohon, Malitbog, Padre Burgos, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, Saint Bernard, San Francisco, San Juan, Silago, Sogod and in Tomas Oppus. In Samar island, on the other hand, areas with cellular coverage include Calbayog City, Catbalogan City as well as the towns of Gandara, Jiiabong, Pagsanghan, San Sebastian, Marabut, Motiong, Paranas, Pinabacdao, San Jorge, Santa Rita, Tarangnan, Villareal and Zumarraga all in Western Samar as well as the municipalities of Bobon, Catarman, Mondragon, Pambujan, and Victoria, all in Northern Samar. Typhoon Yolanda MNO Updates Globe has also placed more areas in Panay island under cellular coverage which now include themunicipalities of Altavas, Banga, Ibajay, Kalibo, Lezo, Makato, Malinao, Numancia, Tangalan, Nabas, New Washingtonand Malay, including the tourist destination of Boracay, all in Aklan and the areas of Ivisan, Tapaz and Roxas City in Capiz. Globe also restored mobile services in practically the entire province of Iloilo. Cellular services are now available in the municipalities of Alimodian, Anilao, Badiangan, Banate, Barotac Nuevo, Barotac Viejo, Bingawan, Cabatuan, Calinog, Passi City, Concepcion, Duenas, Dumangas, Guimbal, Igbaras, Janiuay, Lambunao, Leganes, Lemery, Leon, Maasin, Miagao, Mina, New Lucena, Oton, Pavia, Pototan, San Dionisio, San Enrique, San Joaquin, San Miguel, San Rafael, Santa Barbara, Sara, Tigbauan, Tubungan, Zarraga and Iloilo City. In Antique, the company's coverage now include the municipalities of Anini-y, Barbaza, Belison, Bugasong, Hamtic, Patnongon, San Jose, San Remigio, Sibalom and Tobias Fornier. One dedicated number was assigned to the families to contact Red Cross. Red Cross will contact Culasi families via two-way radio. Smart Smart continues to promote its global donation campaign, helpPH, enabling international mobile donations across networks worldwide http://help.ph/ Smart is providing Libreng Tawag calling centres in 34 different locations (list below) Smart is focusing on restoration and extending relief activities on Western Visayas Smart has partnered with UAE-based satellite service provider Thuraya to deploy satellite phones in Carles, Estancia, Sara and Conception to support emergency relief and provide connectivity to affected populations via Libreng Tawag Smart has provided free airtime to the Command Center of the Province and the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) stationed at the Provincial Capitol was also given support in the form of airtime load to enable the office to coordinate post-disaster response to affected areas. Typhoon Yolanda MNO Updates Free airtime load was also provided to the Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and to as support to the Antique PDRRMC. Free calls and charging stations are scheduled to be rolled out to Aklan in coming days Smart plans to distribute relief goods in Estancia in Iloilo, and in Antique within the week. Smart and Digitel Mobile Philippines, Inc. (DMPI) have network signal covering all relief distribution centers and operation command centers identified by the National Disaster Risk and Reduction Council in the islands of Samar and Leyte.
