Kimya Dawson & Ian Bavitz, “The Uncluded” perform at the Olympia library on April 22 Olympia's own Kimya Dawson and hip hop artist Ian Bavitz (aka Aesop Rock), collaborating as The Uncluded, will perform music from their debut album, Hokey Fright, at the Olympia Timberland Library from 8:30 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22. The two artists wrote, performed, and recorded the whole album, with the exception of the drums on "Delicate Cycle." The after-hours library concert is the first stop on The Uncluded’s tour of Hokey Fright – and the only one with free admission. Next stop: New York City. To “unclude,” according to writer and artist Michael Bernard Loggins, is to keep things you don't appreciate out of your life. From Uncluded’s webpage at www.rhymesayers.com/theuncluded: “Having both experienced some loss in recent years, conversations about mortality served as a starting point for what would eventually become an album as much about finding therapy through writing/sharing as it is about being ok with admitting fear in the face of adversity…While much of the album maintains a serious tone, Dawson and Rock's oddball humor plays an integral part in humanizing the obstacles that can initially seem too massive to process. “Kimya Dawson is a Grammy winning, platinum selling singer songwriter most widely known for her work on the JUNO soundtrack and her former band, The Moldy Peaches. She has released 7 solo albums, including a children's album "Alphabutt". Aesop Rock (aka Ian Bavitz) is a critically acclaimed hip hop artist/producer, recognized for his dense and abstract word play. He has released six solo albums…” The Olympia Timberland Library is located at 313 8th Avenue SE. For more information, please contact the library at (360) 352-0595 or visit www.TRL.org.
