3.Minecraft: The game that completely changed our perception of games. Fun and active matched against a simple game engine. No shiny graphics, no jaw-dropping animations, just hours and hours of endearing gameplay.

This is it folks. The end of the line. While most of you reading this will stay behind, I shall fly away to bigger and better things. That sounds so corny. Alright, so here’s the deal. I’m smart, but not su- per smart. I won’t go on to be the smartest in my class at Depauw, and I didn’t work hard enough to be the valedictorian here, so this is my one and only shot to speak my mind. The valedictorian speech is a time honored tradi- tion in all but the dullest of high schools, and gen- erally is only given by one person. So here it is, your valedictorian article from ninth in the class. Be warned: I have no idea how these things work, this is just a stab in the dark to how this goes. First, I want to thank all the teachers that have influenced my education. I know it’s your job, but thanks for dealing with my loud, crazy personality and obstinate nature. Thanks to my family for doing stuff. Thanks to people in general for not being com- pletely awful, although not all of you apply to the last one. Next is advice, right? That sounds right anyway. So first off, just be yourself. You can never make everyone love you, and perfection doesn’t exist. If you can accept that now, life will be a lot easier. It’s just so much easier to accept that you’ll never be perfect then try all your life to be something that doesn’t ex- ist. Secondly, remember your enemies and don’t burn bridges. You may believe that you’ll be the next presi- dent or CEO, but the meathead sitting next to you has the exact same chances, and you don’t want him to remember that time you told him off about the true meaning of the eyes of T.J. Eckleberg in English. Keep calm and don’t blow up, but if you do, tread lightly. Don’t make it memorable. And lastly, learn to admit fault. Though most Americans feel that we can never be wrong because “we’re American,” always remember that that’s a bunch of crap. Everyone has, and will be wrong. Learn to embrace that and learn from it. Hey, may- be even throw out an apology every once in awhile. That’s still something I’m learning to do. So that’s it. My own little spin on senior wisdom for the masses. I can guarantee it’s more real then anything our two valedictorians will offer, but i’ve always been a proponent for the harsh truths of the real world. The world outside the walls of this high school isn’t going to be nice to you because you went to a four star school in cen- tral Indiana. It won’t be nice to you because you were in key club, speech team, or any number of clubs here. The world isn’t going to be nice to you ever, and the sooner you learn that, and the soon- er you accept it, the better off you’ll be. Kacey Ross
