TRUTHS THAT HELP: (When used correctly) 1. I have a choice - I can either run from God or I can run to Him with the same issues. 2. Death is the enemy, that’s why Jesus came to conquer that enemy. 3. Our bodies are not eternal but who we are is eternal. 4. The reality of prayer is that God wants us to talk to Him. 5. If you love God and are called to His purposes God won’t waste your hurt. 6. God is much more interested in my character then in my comfort. 7. There is a difference between healing and curing.

Acts of kindness allows you to be heard. 4. Don’t give advice to those who are facing life threatening illnesses unless it is asked for. 5. Sending encouraging cards, short notes or emails as a follow up to those experiencing great pain will be helpful in future conversations. 6. Things to say to those who are facing great pain: ○ “I’m so sorry” ○ “Is there anything I can do to help like...?” And then give some ideas of what you could do. ○ “How can I pray for you specifically?” ○ “How are you feeling about this?” and then listen...don’t try to fix it at this point. ○ “You are a true example of ______”. (Fill in the blank with something positive) 7. Things not to say to those who are facing great pain: ➢ “I know how you feel”. ➢ “I had a friend with ______they died.” (Good outcomes are OK to share) ➢ “They can’t do much for that.” ➢ “I can top what you’re going through.” ➢ “You know, God is in control” (Or any other truth) in a preachy kind of way.

Is it OK to be mad at God?
