The Dedication ceremony promises to be an exciting event for everyone who attends. "There will be something for everyone." said Rivkie Chesney who has been organizing the committees for the event. Committee members have been working on the various aspects of the event, coming up with a program that includes music by the delightful Panorama Jazz Band and the Magic YoYo Show by Matthew Noel.

The food is by Chef Linda Waknin and will feature a special kids menu and Hors Deouvres as well as wine.

The students are preparing an original song that will be sung during the ceremony.

HEAD OF UNITED HATZALAH ADDRESSES STUDENTS Amiel Bakehillah Amiel Bakehillah is a program by the Israeli

Ministry of Diaspora affairs geared towards bringing the relevance of Israel and Jewish values to Jews around the world. Through a partnership with the Jewish Federation, Amiel

Bakehillah brought Dov Maisel, the senior

Vice-President of Operations for United

Hatzalah/Untied Rescue volunteer emergency response organizations in Israel to New

Orleans.

The 4th-8th grade students of Academy were lucky to have Dovi, as he asked the students to call him, visit and address them about

Hatzalah Superheroes. He explained that the real superheroes are not batman and superman, but the Hatzalah volunteers who save people's lives every day through their work.

THE DOT Art enrichment, PE, gardening and library enrichment

As part of their story based literacy class, the 1st-2nd graders read The Dot by Peter H.Reynolds. It's a great story with an excellent lesson that even when you think you can't do something and don't have the talent to accomplish something great, you CAN do it! The students gained an understanding of sequence of events by reading what happens after Vashti, the main character of the story, drew one dot that led to an entire Art Show of dots. They found that by working as a team they could produce a beautiful mural depicting The Dot. (pictured here) The sudents also learned about character traits while discussing their feelings about Vashti.
