Intensive English Summer Program

Monday June 25th to Friday July 27th, 2018

The Intensive English Summer Program (IESP) is a five-week intensive summer course designed for students with an intermediate level of English to immerse themselves in language and cultural learning. Classes take place at Concordia University of ’s beautiful riverside campus, minutes away from the vibrant downtown city core. Classes are taught in an intimate setting by a certified instructor with a Master’s Degree in English as a Second Language (ESL). 9:30AM – 3:00PM, Monday to Friday for a total of 100 instructional hours, with off campus task- based learning experience and cultural activities. Course Content The Intensive English Summer Program is designed for students whose first language is not English to develop English grammar, writing, reading, listening and speaking skills. • Students will learn to write clearly and effectively, comprehend various pieces of text, improve their listening skills, and practice to speak effectively in individual, pair or group settings. • Students will learn to take notes in class; some viewing and interpreting of visual material are included in the course. • Students will develop English language verbal skills through in-class group work and presentation skills. • Students will improve their capacity to communicate effectively on practical, social and academic topics. • Students will be challenged to think critically and respond freely in order to create a healthy and growing learning environment.

Accommodations Concordia University of Edmonton has separate male and female residence facilities located on campus. Residence rooms are usually shared with another student and are furnished with two single beds, desks, dressers and chairs.

Meals By applying to stay in residence, students will also have access to a meal plan through the cafeteria, which provides a variety of hot and cold meals, snacks, drinks and fruit.
