Sponsors ABOUT US • SPONSORS GOLD LEVEL SILVER LEVEL BRONZE LEVEL SUPPORTING 3 Letters On behalf of the National Conference Committee, and the Canadian Organization of Campus Activities (COCA) Board of Directors, I would like to welcome you to London! This conference is the result of great efforts and a tremendous team, and I want to thank all of them for their hard work, and for bringing our vision to a reality. COCA is a community of colleges, universities, and business leaders from across Canada. Like the country we live in, COCA is diverse, unique, and passionate. We are a collection of event planners, club administrators, marketing gurus, and business professionals. We represent each coast and every province in between. We showcase and celebrate the best entertainment talent in Canada. Finally, we gather each year as a whole community to learn and share our collective knowledge and experiences. COCA was founded in the belief that together we are greater than the sum of our parts. We grow by sharing challenges, finding best practice solutions, expanding our network, and engaging our broader community. In a faster moving world we believe participation in an active, inclusive, and engaged community of campus leaders is crucial. Our mission as your planning team is to create a conference that inspires a passion for student success across Canada. This will only be achieved through your participation. This week is filled with the best education resources, showcased artists, and business relationships possible. We implore you to take advantage of each element to improve your skill set, turn new colleagues into lifelong friends, and further develop your personal brand. Thank you for engaging in our community and leaving it richer than you found it! Shaun Scrymgeour 2016/17 COCA Board Chairperson Red River College Students’ Association Hi and welcome to London… On behalf of the COCA board of directors, the national conference committee, and the entire volunteer team, it is my extreme pleasure to welcome you to the 2017 COCA National Conference: COCA 35! I would like to take this moment to encourage you to participate fully in what we hope will be an educational, engaging and entertaining experience. The entire team has put in tremendous effort to ensure that your time in London provides the information you seek and some new ideas to take back to your campuses. Education Sessions: Our education committee has put together a long list of options for you to choose from. You will encounter a wide variety of topics, and sessions providing meaningful opportunities for students, staff, and associates. Showcases: There are acts of all type poised to perform for you… You are going to laugh, dance, learn and be entertained by some of the best talent looking to tour campuses today. Give them your attention, and consider what they may look like on your campus. Networking: Your greatest opportunities can be found in getting to know your fellow campus leaders and professionals. COCA is a great place to meet artists and agents and steal ideas from your peers. You will gain a support system that may far out last your time spent on campus… take advantage! Over the past year, I have had the privilege of working with an amazing conference planning team, and great group of people on the COCA Board. I want to thank everybody involved for their dedication and hard work… please take a look at the conference committee list in this manual and be sure to thank those individuals, particularly if you have an impactful experience in the area they took on. My hope is that this conference is a valuable and enriching experience for everyone attending, whether you are new to the organization, or a seasoned COCA veteran, and that it encourages you to get involved in committee work in the future.
