A 40-acre farm at 6393 Nashville Highway has been an- nexed by Baxter. The process sparked concerns by some that the land would be developed. During a recent public hearing for the annexation, however, property owner Mary Halfacre put those fears to rest. “We’re remodeling the house, and it’s going to stay a farm,” she said. “There’s been all kinds of rumors going around that it’s going to be a school or a trailer park or a subdivision, but it’s going to be a farm. We’ve got a crew there that’s fencing it now with four strands of barbed wire. It’s for cattle.” The land was purchased by Terri Likens | Herald-Citizen her parents in 1951.
