© Rick. / photocase.de wına-magazin.at 1 S. 34 Dan Ettinger im WINA-Interview über den Wagner-Boykott in Israel, seinen musikalischen Mentor Daniel Baren- boim und seine neue Heimat Stuttgart INHALT POLITIK GESELLSCHAFT 06 Liberal und authentisch orthodox 16 MenTschen Der neue Oberrabbiner von Wien, Die Gründerin der Österreichischen Arie Folger, und Gemeinderabbiner Kulturtage in Tel Aviv, Judith Schlomo Hofmeister im WINA-Interview. Sketch Comedy for Theatre USCSchool of THTR-470 (2 units) Section 63081 Dramatic Arts Fall 2018 Mondays & Wednesdays 12-1:50pm Location: MCC 107 Kirstin Eggers, Adjunct Faculty Office: MCC 214 Office Hours: By appointment. Please schedule via email. Email: [email protected] Phone: (c) 323.898.7388 Course Description and Overview “The duty of comedy is to correct men by amusing them.” — Molière In this experiential writing and performance workshop course, we will explore and develop our comedic voices via the creation of comedic sketches, through the entire process — from idea generation, to writing, rewriting, rehearsal, and finally production and performance of a fully realized sketch comedy show, with an emphasis on comedic collaboration and ensemble building. Learning Objectives Throughout this course, we will work to develop our comedic voices through the medium of sketch — comedic explorations of concepts, characters and situations. We will learn sketch writing structure through the study of prominent existing sketches, and techniques for sketch performance and character creation. Students are expected to generate a high volume of comedic concepts and written material to serve their own creative exploration, and their own work ethic and writing practice. Students are also expected to serve the needs of the group, and work toward building a true comedy ensemble. Although we will be working toward a final workshop presentation, this course is focused on process over product — you are not expected to be funny 100% of the time, or even 10% of the time. You are expected to be brave, be open-minded, and stretch out of your comfort zone to explore and strengthen your own unique comedic voice.

Greg Warren, most recently seen on "Comedy Central Presents", "The Late Late Show" and "Last Comic Standing", has been building a strong fan base around the country with his act inspired by stories from his Midwestern upbringing. His newly released CD “One Star Wonder” (Comedy Central Records) hit the ground running as #6 in iTunes TOP Comedy Albums (June 2009) and together with Greg’s colorful perspective and amazing characters, is destined to be a favorite. Greg attracts a diverse audience spectrum, performing on networks such as BET (as a finalist on “Coming to the Stage”)Country Music Television’s “Comedy Stage”. and Greg is also a favorite on the nationally syndicated “Bob and Tom” radio show, which led him to tour theatres across the country with the “Friends of Bob and Tom Comedy Tour”. Greg Warren hails from St. Louis, MO, where his father was a high school wrestling coach and his mother made him play clarinet in the band. Greg has captivated audiences with anecdotes about the conflict inherent in meshing two high school identities—varsity wrestler and band geek. Greg’s “Flute Man” bit is a perfect capsulation of the insecurities of high school and the ongoing quest to be cool, and is one of the most requested bits in the history of the “Bob and Tom” radio show. Greg was also a West Point Cadet, where he distinguished himself by amassing an impressive tally of demerits and endless hours of pointless marching. After moving on to the University of Missouri, he studied journalism and was named an All-American college wrestler.

00:00:00 Jesse Host Hey, folks! It’s Jesse. We’re getting close to the end of the year. Thorn Maybe you’re thinking about gifts you’re getting your friends and family, maybe you’re thinking about what causes you can support. I wanna take a second to talk to you about supporting your local public radio station. I’m literally a life-long listener to public radio. Shoutout to KQED and KALW, in the Bay Area. Now, you might be thinking, “If I listen to Bullseye on my phone, why should I donate to a radio station?” Well, it’s pretty straightforward. Bullseye is part of a public radio network, because all those stations give money to NPR, NPR is able to pay us to make shows like Bullseye. And, bonus: when you support public radio, you’re helping build curiosity, conversation, and community right in your backyard. That’s why I support my local NPR Member Station and why you should too. This year, we’re making it really easy. Just go to donate.NPR.org/bullseye to support your local NPR Member Station. And again, that is donate.NPR.org/bullseye. And thanks! 00:00:59 Music Music Gentle, trilling music with a steady drumbeat plays under the dialogue. 00:01:01 Promo Promo Speaker: Bullseye with Jesse Thorn is a production of MaximumFun.org and is distributed by NPR.
