Sewage Treatment System Impact Monitoring Program | Vol 1 Data Report 2019-20 Page | i Executive summary Background Sydney Water operates 23 wastewater treatment systems and each system has an Environment Protection Licence (EPL) regulated by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA). Each EPL specifies the minimum performance standards and monitoring that is required. The Sewage Treatment System Impact Monitoring Program (STSIMP) commenced in 2008 to satisfy condition M5.1a of our EPLs. The results are reported to the NSW EPA every year. The STSIMP aims to monitor the environment within Sydney Water’s area of operations to determine general trends in water quality over time, monitor Sydney Water’s performance and to determine where Sydney Water’s contribution to water quality may pose a risk to environmental ecosystems and human health. The format and content of 2019-20 Data Report predominantly follows four earlier reports (2015-16 to 2018-19). Sydney Water’s overall approach to monitoring (design and method) is consistent with the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council (ANZECC 2000 and ANZG 2018) guidelines.

    Sand Nourishment Forum – Sand Nourishment Reference list October 2013 Updated from Coasts & Ports Conference, Sydney 2013 Potentially Useful Beach Nourishment and Associated Studies/Projects – References Foreword: The Coasts & Ports 2013 Organising Committee introduced a half- day Sand Nourishment Forum comprising a Questions and Answers format directed to an experienced Panel with audience participation to explore and promote the use of sand nourishment as a viable method for managing short term erosion and long term coastal recession. The Forum emanated from great interest in beach nourishment around Australia, with a long history of successful projects from Adelaide to Noosa and major projects on the Gold Coast. The 2013 Conference was launched with a keynote address from Dr Stefan Aarninkhof who was intricately involved in the Delfland Sand Engine project in the Netherlands, which has introduced 21.5M m3 of offshore sands to the Dutch coast to provide coastal protection and prevent coastal inundation. As a precursor to the Beach Nourishment Forum at the Coast & Ports Conference 2013 in Sydney, A. D. Gordon (Forum Moderator) compiled the following list of reference material with contributions from J.T. Carley, E.D. Couriel, A. L. Jackson, A.R Jones, D.B. Lord, A.F. Nielsen, T.D. Shand, R.B. Tomlinson, T. Stul, R. Tucker. The list is intended to be a start on a “live “ document that can be added to, as further reference material becomes available/unearthed. The list has been compiled to assist those carrying out or contemplating beach nourishment, beach scraping and entrance by-passing or back-passing projects. It is hoped that other special interest topics to the coastal and port engineering profession may be run in similar forums as part of the future Coasts & Ports Conference series.

Collaborations between these two areas are a recent development, yet a scientific basis for safety information is crucial to better understanding how to avoid and mitigate the hazard presented by rip currents. One such area is the field of swimmer escape strategies. Contemporary safety advice is divided on the relative merits of a ‘Stay Afloat’ versus ‘Swim Parallel’ strategy, yet conceptual understanding of both these strategies is largely based on an idealised model of rip current morphology and flow dynamics where channels are incised in shore-connected bars.

Starting from outside the Manly Beach Lifesaving Club, the walk leads you along the coast, past an assortment of unique sculptures and the historic Fairy Bower Pool. The largest dog-friendly park in Sydney, almost half of this huge park in Sydney is off-leash. The off-leash dog section is located adjacent to the Bonna Point Reserve carpark, in between the third and fourth rock groynes. As the name suggests, the Banksia track is brimming with beautiful native Australian wildflowers and banksias. The best time to visit this dog beach is during the cooler months of the year. Hello everyone – and a belated welcome to the 2014- 2015 Season – and the first issue of the “Blue & Gold”. We are in full swing for another season of Patrols, Training & Education and Competition with a new Board of Directors (BOD) already fully engaged with pre-season activities and planning and implementing their programs for this season. We have a very good BOD and I welcome several new Members to the BOD and other Members who sit on Committees and hold other positions with the Club. Once again, your Board of Directors will be working to our Club Management Plan 2012-2015 and the key functional areas of: 1. Lifesaving and Patrols 2. Training and Education 3. Competition (Surf Sports) 4. Business and Administration 5. Member Services (Future Function) 6 Community These six functional areas are critical to the successful running and management of our Club and this is an ever changing and dynamic operation with our Directors working on implementing their plans for the season and developing new plans as required to meeting the obligations of SLSNSW and SLSA. Under the leadership of Gavan Duffy, Lifesaving Craig “Styx” McKinniery, Club President. Director and supported by the Lifesaving Team – including Jamie Primer and Kane Hughes, we have 12 successfully held and new Awards gained by many Rostered Patrol Teams, who are now well into the season existing and new Members of North Cronulla SLSC. of patrolling North Cronulla Beach to perform Volunteer I would like to set a target for all of our BOD and Active Patrols on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.

    NSW HEALTH Media Release **Vision and audio available for download below** Thursday 24 June 2021 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE NSW recorded 18 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, 13 of which were already announced yesterday morning. NSW Health has also been notified of six new locally acquired cases overnight. These cases will be included in tomorrow's numbers. There are now 36 cases linked to the Bondi cluster. One new overseas-acquired case was recorded in the same period, bringing the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 5,495. There were 48,402 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 44,640. NSW Health thanks the community for coming forward to get tested for COVID-19. High testing numbers are vital in detecting cases of COVID-19 in order to prevent further transmission. NSW Health administered 17,976 COVID-19 vaccines in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, including 6,492 at the vaccination centre at Sydney Olympic Park. The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 1,993,638, with 729,783 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 1,263,855 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11.59pm on Tuesday 22 June. Confirmed cases (incl. interstate residents in NSW health care facilities) 5,495 Deaths (in NSW from confirmed cases) 56 Total tests carried out 6,575,520 Total vaccinations administered in NSW 1,993,638 Of the 18 locally acquired cases notified to 8pm last night, 13 cases were already announced yesterday: • 8 of these cases are linked to a birthday party in West Hoxton, attended by a previously reported case linked to the Bondi cluster.
