El evento ha recibido a un total de 2.635 profesionales del sector musical, con un 51% de acreditados internacionales provenientes de 58 países entre los que se encuentran Brasil, Japón, Nueva Zelanda y Sudáfrica. Con un total de 152 actividades y más de 85 ponentes, los ejes temáticos sobre los que ha girado el programa de conferencias han sido: los mercados emergentes y los ya consagrados; el futuro de la música en vivo y de los festivales; el papel de los sellos independientes en el sector de la música; y la innovación tecnológica en la industria musical. El crecimiento de asistentes en esta quinta edición ha puesto de manifiesto la importancia del evento como punto de encuentro entre agentes internacionales del sector, que han participado en mesas redondas sobre los mercados de Latinoamérica, Europa, Estados Unidos, el Reino Unido y Asia. Asimismo, se han celebrado entrevistas públicas a destacadas personalidades de la música actual, como la enigmática estrella del pop europea Stromae, o el galardonado con el Primavera Award, Christof Ellinghaus, fundador del sello City Slang. Martyn Ware de The Human League; Sandie Shaw, cantante y miembro de la junta directiva de Featured Artists' Coalition; Jeremy Pritchard, de Everything Everything y Dave Haslam, periodista y DJ, han sido algunos de los ponentes de esta edición. También han participado Jack Shankly de Domino Records, Rodaidh McDonald, ingeniero de XL Recordings, Will Tompsett y Carrie Tolles de 4AD y Chris Goss de Hospital Records junto con los representantes de algunos de los festivales internacionales más prestigiosos como Barry Hogan de All Tomorrow's Parties, Enric Palau de Sónar y James Minor de SXSW, así como periodistas de medios consagrados como Philip Sherburne de Pitchfork y The Wire, Luke Bainbridge de The Guardian y Eve Barlow de NME entre muchos otros. Cabe destacar también la presencia de asociaciones nacionales e internacionales de los distintos sectores del negocio de la música, como Impala, WIN, Live DMA, Yourope, UFI, APM, ACCES, AEDEM, ASACC, Liveurope o ARC, que han aprovechado el evento para reunirse con sus asociados y también para hacer patente su papel a la hora de unificar criterios en temas tan cruciales como la necesidad de establecer políticas equitativas en el pago de derechos de autor o el IVA cultural.     Barsuk Records -- pronounced bar-SUKE by those in the know (it's a Russian word that means 'badger,' and is the name of the dog that appears in the label's logo) -- is perhaps most recognized for having put out the first several albums by Death Cab for Cutie, the last of which, the classic Transatlanticism (2003), is one of very few indie albums to have sold the half-million copies required to be certified Gold in the United States, and which, along with the three other DCfC studio albums and a handful of EP and archival releases in the Barsuk catalog, continues to be a touchstone of Northwest indie rock. (Death Cab, incidentally, released Narrow Stairs in the spring of 2008 -- their second album on major label Atlantic -- which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and has received near-universal critical praise.) Death Cab's success both on and off the indie, however, is hardly the only noteworthy musical achievement from Barsuk's 10-year history, during which the label has released music by a startling array of many of the most acclaimed artists in indiedom, including Nada Surf, Menomena, Mates of State, Ra Ra Riot, Say Hi, David Bazan, The Long Winters, Viva Voce, Rocky Votolato, John Vanderslice, Jesse Sykes, They Might Be Giants, and Rilo Kiley, alongside a handful of younger bands such as Aqueduct, Jim Noir, and others.
