RULES AND REGULATIONS (TO BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO) 1. These competitions are run under the General and Special Regulations of the Chamber of Agricultural Societies Inc. 2. All entries to be on the forms supplied by the Association and to be in the hands of the Secretary by the advertised closing date of entries. 3. All entries must be accompanied by an entrance fee of 10% of the value of first prize, except where otherwise specified in the schedule and agreed upon by the Committee on each entry, or they will not be received. Minimum fee 10 cents. 4. Exhibitors, when called upon by Stewards of Committee, shall prove the correctness of their certificate of entry. 5. The decision of the Judge shall be final, but in the event of a protest, which must be lodged in writing: - to the Ring Steward for Horse Ring events, Chief Steward for Team Penning, or the Rodeo Arena Master within 15 minutes after the event accompanied by a deposit of $50 cash, or; - within 30 minutes with a deposit of $2 cash, to the Secretary in the case of all other sections. The deposit will be forfeited if the protest is deemed frivolous by the sub- committee of four, whose decision shall be final and without appeal. 6. The Association reserves the right of refusing to admit any exhibit to the Showgrounds where there is reason to suspect it is either diseased or dangerous and remove any such exhibit from the showgrounds. 7. Every care will be taken of the exhibits, but, the Association shall not be responsible for any loss or death from any cause whatsoever, and shall not be held responsible for any such loss caused thereby. 8. All persons, (not members), shall pay for admittance to the Show the sum prescribed, unless otherwise provided with a Pass from the Secretary. 9. If there should be any doubt as to the correctness of the declaration of any exhibitor, such exhibitor shall not be entitled to any prize which may be awarded to him or her until the Committee has satisfactory proof that the declaration is correct. Any Exhibitor having, in the opinion of the Committee, made a false declaration, shall be subject to all or any of the following penalties: forfeiture of prize, non-permission to exhibit again, or expulsion from the Association. 10. It will be imperative that all cattle be tied up in Beef Sections and all bulls over 12 months must have rings in their noses. 11. The Bell Show Society recommends competitors have their own current public liability policy if showing animals. 12. Any person insulting or interfering with the Judges, Stewards or Officers of the Association during the Show will be subject to removal from the ground, and prizes, if awarded to such persons, shall be forfeited.

5 13. No drinks, eatables or other refreshments shall be permitted to be sold at the Show, otherwise than by the authorised caterers of the Association except by special permission of the Committee. 14. No entertainment for which a special charge is made shall be allowed at the Show without special permission of the Committee. 15. Public sales of such exhibits as owners may dispose of shall be held at the Show on such days in such order as may be duly notified. 16. A Commission of Rebate of a percentage to be agreed on all sales of exhibits effected either by auction or privately, shall be paid to the Association by the seller for the benefit of the general fund not later that 14 days after the close of the Show. 17. Any electrical extension cords used by trade-site holders and campers must have current electrical certification.

ASSOCIATIONS RESPONSIBILITY Damage Through Exhibits, etc. The Association shall not be responsible for any accident that may be caused through or by any exhibit, or loss by death of any exhibit, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Association harmless and indemnified against any such accident, loss or death. Accidents The Association will not, under any circumstances, hold itself liable for any accident on the grounds or premises. Accidents are to be reported to the Secretary’s Office immediately. Damage to Exhibits The Association will not, under any circumstances, hold itself responsible for any legal proceedings arising from any loss, damage to, or any missing delivery of any exhibit. Loss by Disease The Entry Form will be taken as a guarantee that all livestock, etc., specified therein, are free from all disease, so far as is known by the owner. In the case of infectious disease being spread through or by any exhibit, the Exhibitor shall be held responsible. Biosecurity Horse Health Declaration to be completed and presented to Horse Ring Officials prior to competition. Fire Precautions will be taken to guard against any fire and to protect the property of the Exhibitor but exhibits will not be insured at the loss of the Association and it will not be held responsible for loss caused thereby. DISQUALIFICATIONS, ETC. Exhibitors of Livestock must take part in the Grand Parade, failing which, prize winner forfeits prize. Any Exhibitor making any breach of the by-laws may, at the discretion of the Committee, be disqualified as a member of the Association. Any person so disqualified shall not be eligible again to become a member of the Association or to enter any exhibit at its exhibition. The Committee may, at its discretion, remove any disqualification that may have been imposed.

STARTING TIME: Ring 1, 2 and 3 8.00am Saturday Showjumping (Ring 4) 8:30 am Saturday HORSE HEALTH DECLARATION All horse competitors must complete a Horse Health Declaration Form for all horses on the grounds, whether competing or not, before any horse can compete at the 2018 Bell Show. Forms must be signed on the day of entry and handed in to Show Officials prior to commencement of horse ring events. Non-compliance may mean that your horse may not compete at the Bell Show. REGULATIONS: 1. In the case of any exotic animal disease outbreak occurring prior to, or during the show, all equine animals must remain at the Showgrounds and abide by the Biosecurity Qld DAFF rulings and guidelines at that time. All costs incurred are to be borne by the exhibitor and in no way is the Bell Show Society liable for expenses in case of lock-down. 2. Horse Health Declarations and Indemnity Forms will be required at the time of purchasing entry tickets 3. The Chief Ring Steward shall have the final say in all decisions regarding the event and entrance into events. The Chief Ring Steward has the ability to alter or remove any event in the Bell Show Schedule 4. Grooms and competitors must obey orders of the Stewards otherwise they will be fined or ejected from the grounds. 5. All exhibits in the horse section must take part in the Grand Parade. 6. If, in the opinion of the Judge, any horse or pony is entered in the wrong class, the Judge will have the power to classify it in the correct class. 7. Judges will select Champions from all sections entered unless otherwise stated in Schedule. 8. All persons, (not members), shall pay for admittance to the show the sum prescribed, unless otherwise provided with a Free Pass from the Secretary. 9. All colts and stallions, 2 years of age and over, must be shown with a bit in the mouth and a safe head stall and lead. These requirements are to be to the Stewards' satisfaction. All stallions must be controlled by a person 18 years of age or over. No stallions allowed in hack classes unless specifically stipulated. 10. All horses age relative to 1st August. Competitors age is relative to Show date. 11. Unless otherwise stated all entries in breed classes must be stud book registered or recorded in accordance with the rules of the respective breed societies. Registration papers (where applicable) must be available at the show as proof of registration upon request. 8 Exhibitors must be current financial members of the respective breed society for which they are showing. 12. Stewards will collect tickets immediately before judging, and will present prize money and ribbons to the place getters after judging. 13. Exhibitors are requested to fill in tickets before entering ring. 14. Bookings for stables/stalls will not be taken by Show Committee due to the limited number available. Competitors are advised to bring their own panels or appropriate fencing to secure their stock if camping over-night. No horses to use cattle yards for penning prior to or during the show. 15. All handlers and assistants in Horse Rings must be suitably attired. Shorts, singlets, thongs, joggers and similar attire are not permitted. Children under 18 years must wear helmets. 16. Stewards and Officials have the right to evict any entry in the Horse Ring which may appear to be ill, is of questionable soundness or is acting in an unsafe and uncontrollable manner. The Show Society reserves the right to reject any nomination without explanation. 17. Bell Show Society recommends competitors have their own current public liability policy if showing animals. 18. Exhibitors are not to transport any horse showing signs of illness onto the Showgrounds, or knowing these animals have been in contact with other horses which have contracted any illness/disease prior to the event. 19. MAIDEN: A horse that has never won first place in a Hack/Show Hunter class at any show. 20. NEWCOMER: A Horse which has not competed under saddle at any show or competition (Except Racing) Prior to 1st July 2017, newcomer ponies maybe ridden by an adult. 21. NOVICE: A Horse which has never won a champion open hack class at any show. 22. SHOW HUNTERS: May only compete in hunter classes unless otherwise specified. 23. Unused or written on tickets will NOT be refunded so please choose events carefully. 24. ANY OTHER BREED: Exhibit must not have shown in any other breed class at this show. 25. PONIES: Ponies to be under 14 hands unless breed specifics. No Stallions in hack or rider classes unless spec-ified. 26. GALLOWAY: Galloways 14 hands and under 15 hands. No Stallions in hack or rider classes unless speci-fied. 27. HACKS: Hacks 15 hands and over. No Stallions in hack or rider classes unless specified. 28. All protests must be lodged in writing within 15 minutes of completion of the class to the Chief Ring Stew and accompanied by a cash deposit of $50.00, such amount to be forfeited if the protest be considered frivolous or vexatious. 29. EA Rules Apply for Showjumping 30. All pony club events in program must be current financial membership of Bell Pony Club. 31. LOCAL: The horse and rider must reside in Western Downs or South Burnett Regional Councils and within 50 km of Bell.

YOUNG JUDGES’ & PARADERS’ RULES The Hormel slide must be used at all levels in the Young Judging Competitions. To be eligible for the State Finals, competitors must comply with all of these rules. Local Show Rules 1. Competitors must be over 15 and under 25 years on 1 May in the year of the State Final. 2. Competitors under 18 years must have the approval of a parent or guardian to compete. 3. Competitors are to be a resident in Queensland for at least three months prior to competing or attending an educational institution in Queensland unless they qualify under Rule (4). 4. Competitors residing over the border who can prove an affinity with a Queensland Show are allowed entry provided they satisfy one of the following criteria: 20 (a) Their address has a Queensland postcode; (b) They have a Queensland phone number; (c) The competitor or their parents are active working members of that Show. 5. National winners or National Judging Panel for that event are ineligible to compete. Sub-Chambers Rules Rules (1 – 5) in the Local Show Rules apply to all Sub-Chamber Finals. 6. Sub-Chambers will decide the number of competitors from each Show who will compete at the Final. 7. Competitors can represent only one Show in the Sub-Chamber Final. 8. A State Final Entry Form must be completed by the winner of each Competition immediately after judging and forwarded to the QCAS State Office by the Sub-Chamber Secretary / Coordinator. 9. 1. Entries must have been photographed by the entrant. Amateur photographers only. 2. No same image may be entered into more than one class. 3. All entries must be securely mounted on black cardboard only with at a 5mm- 1cm border to allow for the entry to be pinned. Use glue which does not buckle your photo. 6. 34 FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE LADIES' COMMITTEE Dear Ladies, On behalf of the Ladies Committee, I would like to thank all who have exhibited and assisted in the Pavilion during the past years. Your efforts have helped to keep our Pavilion one of the best. I appeal again for your support for the 2018 Bell Show. Setting up of the Pavilion for the 2018 Show will begin on Monday 26 February at 8:00 am. Assistance during judging is required as usual, as well as cakes and slices for Judging Day and the Show. Please remember that the Pavilion will close at 3:00 pm on the Sunday of the Show and all exhibits may be removed after 4:00 pm. Cookery Section Recipes

Cinnamon Tea Cake Ingredients: 90g butter, 150g castor sugar, 180g SR Flour, pinch salt, 2 eggs, ½ cup milk, ½ teaspn. vanilla, extra sugar and cinnamon Method: Combine sugar, butter, flour and salt in a mixed until they resemble bread crumbs. Add eggs, milk and vanilla all at once. Beat on medium speed until mixture is smooth and creamy. Bake in a greased and lined tin. Bake in a moderate oven for 25 – 30 minutes. Turn out onto a towel covered rack. Brush top with melted butter and sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon while hot.

Lazy Daisy Cake Ingredients: 125g Butter, 125g sugar, 1 1/3 cups S.R. Flour, 1 packet Jelly Crystals (any flavour), 2 eggs, 1/3 cup milk. Method: Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat 3 minutes on medium speed. Bake in loaf tin for 35 – 40 mins in moderate oven. Ice on top, with white icing and decorate with jelly beans, representing a daisy flower.

42 Date Slice Ingredients: ½ cup butter, ¾ cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 cup S.R. Flour, 1 cup Plain flour, vanilla, pinch of salt Filling: 240g dates, chopped, 1 despn. butter, 5 tabs. milk, juice and zest of 1 lemon. Method: Cream butter and sugar, add egg. Beat well, then add flour, vanilla and salt. Place in a saucepan, dates, butter, juice, zest and milk. Bring to the boil slowly and beat until smooth. Let cool. Roll out, half of the above mixture and place into a lined slice tin. Add cooled, date filling and then place other half of rolled pastry on top. Bake for ½ hour in a moderate oven.

Melting Moments Ingredients: 180 g butter, 2/3 cup icing sugar, 1 ¼ cups plain flour, 1/3 cup cornflour. Filling 100g butter, ¾ cup icing sugar, 1 tsp vanilla Method: Cream butter and icing sugar until pale and fluffy. Sift the flours over the butter mixture, and use a butter knife to mix until evenly combined. Gather the dough together. And roll heaped teaspoons into balls. Place onto the trays and flatten with a lightly floured fork. Cook 15 to 20 mins, at 160 degrees, until lightly golden underneath. Sandwich together with filling.

Rainbow Coconut Ice (Uncooked) Ingredients: 3 1/3 cups icing sugar, 4 1/4 cups coconut, 1 tin condensed milk, 3 different food colourings Method: Combine condensed milk, icing sugar and coconut in a bowl and mix well. Evenly divide into thirds. Colour each batch of mixture, a different colour. Press each colour in even layers into a tray lined with baking paper. Refrigerate until firm. Remove from tray and cut into 3cm x 3cm squares.

Date Loaf Ingredients: 1 cup dates, 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup boiling water, 1 ¾ cup S.R. Flour, 1 teaspoon bi-carb soda, 1 egg, 60g butter. Method: Put dates, sugar and butter into bowl, pour over water until butter dissolves, add soda then lightly beaten egg, lastly the flour. Bake in a loaf tin in a moderate oven. And bake for 45 to 1 hour until cooked.

Victoria Sponge Ingredients: 175g S.R. flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 175g softened butter, 175g caster sugar, 3 eggs. Method: Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl and add butter, sugar and eggs. Mix together then beat until smooth. Divide mixture evenly between 2 x 20cm round tins and bake for 25-30 minutes in 180-degree oven until cakes are well risen and golden brown. Join sponges together with raspberry jam and lightly dust top with icing sugar.

43 Chocolate Slice Ingredients: 150g butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 3 small tablespoons cocoa, pinch salt,1 egg, 1 cup S.R. flour, ½ cup plain flour, ½ teaspoon vanilla. Method: Melt butter, add sugar, Stir until sugar dissolves. Add beaten egg, then add flour and cocoa sifted together. Bake in a greased slice tray, for approximately 20 minutes. When cool, ice with chocolate icing.

Sultana Cake Ingredients: 400g Sultanas, 1 ½ cups water, 2tps corn flour, 250g butter, 1 cup sugar, 3 eggs, 2 cups plain flour, 1 tsp baking powder. Method: Pre-heat oven to 140 degrees. Line a round cake tin with baking paper, put the sultanas in half the water in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer until the liquid has absorbed into the fruit. Stir corn flour and remaining water together until smooth, add to the pot with the sultanas. Stir for 2/3 minutes until it comes to the boil and thickens. Remove from heat, cover surface with cling wrap and cool until lukewarm. Cream butter and sugar until white and fluffy. Lightly beat the eggs and add one at a time. Fold in the shifted flour and baking powder, then add the sultana mix. Spoon into the tin and smooth surface. Bake for 2 hours, cool in the tin for 15 minutes.

Marble Cake Ingredients: 220g Butter, 250 Castor Sugar, 3 eggs, 1 cup Plain Flour, 1 cup S.R. Flour, ¾ cup Milk, Vanilla, pink food colouring and cocoa. Method: Cream butter and sugar very well. Add vanilla. Add 3 eggs one at a time. Then add well shifted flour alternately with milk. Divide mixture into 3 equal parts. Leave one plain and then colour one chocolate with cocoa and one pink with food colouring. Place alternate spoonful’s of mixture into a prepared 20cm round tin, tap tin on bench and run a knife through mixture 4 times to create marble effect. Bake in moderate oven for approx. 50 minutes. When cold ice with pale pink icing.
