COLLECT Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ fasted forty days in the wilderness, and was tempted as we are, yet without sin: give us grace to discipline ourselves in obedience to your Spirit; and, as you know our weakness, so may we know your power to save; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT 24th Feb-8th March For two weeks each year thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to share the stories of the people who grow our food and drinks and who grow the cotton in our clothes, people who are often exploited and underpaid. Why not consider what Fairtrade products you could buy? Many are available at the Fairtrade Café once a month and at supermarkets too. Let’s make the world a fairer place!

Advice from The on Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) “Parishioners with coughs and sneezes should be advised to refrain from handshaking during the Peace and to receive Communion in one kind only. It is also best practice to have hand-sanitisers available for congregational use. Priests presiding at the Eucharist, Eucharistic Assistants and servers should wash their hands, preferably with an alcohol-based (minimum 60%) hand sanitiser. The national advice also notes that intinction (dipping the wafer) is not recommended. I strongly endorse this, as it is an unhygienic practice which increases the risk of infection, as well as being potentially harmful to those who are gluten intolerant.” Please respect this advice so that we can protect each other and our community. Please pray for all who are affected by the virus across the world.

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting takes place on Tuesday 17th March at 7.45pm in the Lounge. Nominations for wardens (elected annually) This year Derek Redeyoff is stepping back after his years of faithful service. Deanery Synod members (3 yr term) and PCC members (3 yr term) are invited. Please see Penny or Lynn Moon for details. The Electoral is being revised in advance of the APCM—please speak to Julia if you would like to be added or your details need to be changed. It will be closed 14 days before the meeting, at that point no new names can be added until after the APCM.

Things going on in Church... Fair Trade afternoon teas (Saturdays once a month)—a chance to catch up with friends & support ethical trading across the world Coder Dojo (1st Saturdays)- aimed at young people learning how to use technology Come Together Cafe (Tuesdays) - a chance to catch up with friends, have a sing and Bible study Dementia Café (1st & 3rd Fridays) for those living with dementia & their carers We also have uniformed organisations (Rainbows, Brownies and Guides) If you are interested in any of these, please have a word with Penny, a warden or a member of the PCC who will be able to point you in the right direction.

Fallows PSALM at 10.30a.m. Psalm 32 Said (Bible page 536) Leader Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. All Happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. Leader While I kept silence, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long. All For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Leader Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity; I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord’, and you forgave the guilt of my sin. All Therefore let all who are faithful offer prayer to you; at a time of distress, the rush of mighty waters shall not reach them. Leader You are a hiding-place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with glad cries of deliverance. All I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Leader Do not be like a horse or a mule, without understanding, whose temper must be curbed with bit and bridle, else it will not stay near you. All Many are the torments of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord. Leader Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart.
