Upper Wharfedale Agricultural Society VIRTUAL KILNSEY SHOW 2020

This years format will be presented virtually and therefore no entry fees will be incurred. Please feel free to enter as many classes as you wish but for ease of administration, entries are limited to one entry per class per competitor. RULES Entrants can exhibit if you either live within a 15 mile radius of Kilnsey Show Field or have shown in the last two years. All exhibits will be independently judged according to their individual sections. No prize money or trophies will be allocated during the 2020 Virtual Show. A virtual certificate will be issued to those who come 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their classes. Winners will be announced on the website and respective social media platforms on ‘Show Day’ (September 1st 2020) One photograph, unless otherwise stated, is to be submitted via email to [email protected]. In all sections photographs must be taken after WEDNESDAY 15th July 2020 and submitted BEFORE SATURDAY 15TH AUGUST. STRICTLY NO ENTRIES will be accepted after the 15th August, any photographs submitted after the closing date will be disqualified. Multiple photographs for the same entry being submitted will result in the entry being disqualified. Please ensure each photograph is accompanied by the exhibitors name and class number. Upon entry clearly state the name of the entrant and for children under 16 years, state the age of the child.

3 SECTION B Please would competitors send two photographs of each animal, side view and rear view. All cattle featured must be owned by the exhibitor between the 15th July and 15th August 2020. We appreciate that in the current circumstances’ animals may not have been halter trained so they can be taken with or without a handler in attendance. For cow and calf classes send two photos of each outfit to display the pair of animals to best effect. To make it easier for our judges please state which class each animal or pair of animals is entered in, the age of the animals and the breed if it is not specified in the entry schedule.

SHIRE HORSES

Class C1 – Brood Mare with Foal at foot Class C2 – Yearling or Two-year-old Colt, Gelding or Filly Class C3 – Barren Mare, Gelding or Filly, 3 years and over Class C4 – Overall Champion and Reserve. Pre entry not permitted

HORSES

Competitors are restricted to one entry per horse per class. One owner is permitted to enter multiple horses into the same class. Photos not to class specifications will not be judged. This is a fun show and in no way represents the ‘usual’ equine show classes. Show attire is not necessary, the horse should be reasonably well turned out

Class C5 - Condition in Hand Any breed/type. A side profile of your horse or pony standing up as if for a judge.

Class C6 - Ridden Class Any breed/type. A side profile of your horse - either in walk, trot, canter or gallop.

Class C7 - Jumping Any height/breed/type. Judged on the horses technique over a fence, riders position and general overall appearance.

Class C8 - ‘Through the ears’ A photograph taken whilst out hacking your horse or pony. The ears must appear in the photo, taken as though in the saddle or behind the horse if driven.

Professional photos are ok to use providing you own copyright or can credit the photographer.

8 SECTION F HORTICULTURE All exhibits must have been grown by the exhibitor, who must not employ outside assistance for more than 12 hours regularly. Traders in flowers and vegetables, and professional gardeners who earn all or part of their living are ineligible. Class F1 - Nine Sweet Peas, any kind, any foliage. Class F2 – Vase of mixed perennials, any kind, at least three varieties. Class F3 – Collection of flowers from the garden, at least three varieties.

FLOWER ARRANGING No sizes restrictions on any classes. Class F4 – An arrangement in a drinking glass. Class F5 – Gents Buttonhole. Class F6 – Lady’s Spray. Class F7 – A miniature flower arrangement. Class F8 – A Foliage Arrangement. Class F9 – A Foliage Arrangement, age 16 and under.

SECTION G VINTAGE TRACTOR COMPETITION All machinery featured must be owned by the exhibitor between the 15th July and 15th August 2020. Class G1 – Best Vintage Tractor, pre 1960 Class G2 – Best Vintage Tractor with Implements Class G3 – Best Tractor, post 1960 Class G4 – Any Other Agriculture Vehicle, pre 1970.

9 YOUNG FARMERS JUDGING COMPETITION - OPEN

This will be a virtual event to take place before the show on Monday 24th August 2020. Instructions on how to enter will be posted on the ‘Upper Wharfedale YFC’ Facebook page at 7pm. Competitors will have 24hours to submit their order. Young farmers will place 3 classes of 4 animals in the correct order using photographs provided. Competitors DO NOT have to give reasons. Class 1 – Mule Gimmer Lambs Class 2 – Rearing Calves Class 3 – Dairy Cows Class G5 -Young Farmer members aged 10-18 years Class G6 - Young Farmer members 19 years and older
