South Dakota State Univsersity Dean's List Spring 2018 May 25, 2018 South Dakota State University announces dean's list BROOKINGS, S.D. - The following students have been named to the dean's list for academic excellence after the spring 2018 semester at South Dakota State University. To earn dean's list distinctions in SDSU's colleges, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Students with an asterisk received a perfect 4.0 GPA. Students from 33 states and 36 foreign nations are on the list. Students with F, I, U, RI or RU grades are not eligible regardless of system term GPA attained. Note that this criteria includes courses that were taken at other South Dakota institutions this term. A minimum of 12 credits within the 100-699 course range must be taken. A student who passes pregeneral education courses may still qualify, if the student has 12 other credits that do fall within the 100-699 range. He was involved in the FAO Forest Resource Assessment 2000, and this experience has not deterred him from offering to guest edit an ETFRN News issue on ‘Forest Resources Assessment: Issues and Perspectives’. In his overview article (p.5) he presents the objectives for this issue. He also highlights the challenges in forest resources assessment. These are definitely not limited to finding and applying the newest inventory techniques. Many of the unanswered questions relate to the actual use of the assessment information in forest management and policy development. This is a recurring theme in most development-oriented research: how does one bridge the gaps between research, policy and practice; and how can research results be communicated in such a way that they contribute to sustainable development? One example of an attempt to bridge some of these gaps was the ETFRN workshop on participatory monitoring and evaluation of biodiversity (p.2 and p. 75). The workshop explored the potential of participatory assessment, monitoring and evaluation of biodiversity (PAMEB) for reconciling local and national information needs in biodiversity management. One of the conclusions was that ‘The process of negotiating, observing and analysing indicators may bring about more change than the data gathered itself, and in particular can enhance benefit-sharing, as well as be more sustainable than externally led processes.

    Arthur Schnitzler Arthur Schnitzler (15 May 1862 – 21 October 1931) 2 Literary works was an Austrian author and dramatist. Schnitzler’s works were often controversial, both for their frank description of sexuality (in a letter to Schnitzler 1 Personal life Sigmund Freud confessed “I have gained the impres- sion that you have learned through intuition – although actually as a result of sensitive introspection – every- thing that I have had to unearth by laborious work on other persons”)[4] and for their strong stand against anti- Semitism, represented by works such as his play Professor Bernhardi and his novel Der Weg ins Freie. However, although Schnitzler was himself Jewish, Professor Bern- hardi and Fräulein Else are among the few clearly identi- fied Jewish protagonists in his work. Schnitzler was branded as a pornographer after the re- lease of his play Reigen, in which ten pairs of char- acters are shown before and after the sexual act, lead- ing and ending with a prostitute. The furore after this play was couched in the strongest anti-semitic terms.[5] Reigen was made into a French language film in 1950 by the German-born director Max Ophüls as La Ronde. Schnitzler’s birthplace Praterstrasse 16 The film achieved considerable success in the English- speaking world, with the result that Schnitzler’s play is Arthur Schnitzler was born at Praterstrasse 16, better known there under its French title.     Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Reigen by Arthur Schnitzler DER REIGEN: A PLAY BY ARTHUR SCHNITZLER. Arthur Schnitzler was born on the 15 of May 1862 as the son of a Jewish medical Doctor. He spent five years studying medicine at the Vienna University and became an admirer of Sigmund Freud. Later Schnitzler and Freud became closer friends and shared many similar ideologies. After his studies at the University he joined the army for one year and received his doctorate at the same time. In 1885 Sigmund Freud and Schnitzler shared many ideas and interests, which examined the theories of unconsciousness and sub-consciousness. At the age of 31 Schnitzler decided to focus on his writing and his critical views of the K&K monarchy (Kaiserlich und Koeniglich). From the year 1890 onwards, Schnitzler and Hugo von Hofmannsthal belonged to an elite artistic group called the "Wiener Modern". In this establishment he was one of the most vehement critics of the K&K monarchy of Austria and Hungary. Only three years later Schnitzler decided to open his own private practice to be able to focus more on his writing. His novel "Leutnant Gustl" which became publicized in 1900 was the first to use an inner monologue as a new form of expression. His novel, which was an insult to the Austrian Army, made him loose the honours he had received when being in the army. He first started to write novels such as the Reigen, but Schnitzler also developed a certain passion for writing fiction, which later became the dominant style in his life.
