Sasiga woreda belongs to one of the woredas in East Welega Zone of Oromia region, which was highly affected by the security problem and has hosted the largest Internally Displaced People (IDP) returnees. Reports from the Oromia region Education Bureau indicated that four primary schools are completely damaged in Sasiga Woreda alone and around 1,000 primary school children are reported to be out of school due to the conflict and lack of school facilities to pursue their education. One of the major challenges faced by the humanitarian support community while trying to resettle the IDPs into their place of origin has been the inadequacy and unavailability of social infrastructure like schools, clinics and sanitation facilities, which were destroyed by the conflict.

Ethiopia: West Guji – Gedeo Conflict Displacement Flash Update 2 22 May 2018 Highlights • A rapid assessment conducted in Gedeo zone (SNNPR) found that at least 274,5481 people were displaced from West Guji (Oromia) to Gedeo zone following the violence that erupted along the regional boundary in mid-April. Some 84,000 people were also displaced in West Guji zone. More than 4,000 houses were reportedly burnt down or damaged in West Guji and livelihoods destroyed. • Official reports indicate that as of early May, 102,593 people of the 274,548 people displaced in Gedeo were returned to their villages in West Guji zone • The Government, the local community and civil society were the first and main responders to date, with sup- port from few partners. Significant gaps in food, shelter, NFI and WaSH are reported • Although there were no reported health outbreaks so far, AWD, scabies and measles are potential health risks due to the use of water from unsafe sources, open defecation, overcrowded shelter and sharing of clothes. UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research, Trace element lab, Salt Lake, Kolkata 700 098, India Abstract: Using Energy Dispersive X-ray Florescence (EDXRF) Elemental analysis, Coffee cherry of Arabica subspecies produced in crop years of 2015/2016 in nine different parts of coffee growing Area in Ethiopa were analyzed and has been found four major elements P, K, Ca, S and eight minor elements Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Se, Sr, Rb, Br from Twenty coffee Arabica subspecies. The Samples were washed; dried; Grinding with mortar and finally pelletized. EDXRF analysis were carried the energies of the X-rays emitted by the sample are measured using a Si- semiconductor detector and are processed by a pulse height analyzer. Computer analysis of this data yields an energy spectrum which defines the elemental composition of the sample. The system detection calibration and accuracy check was performed through different countries reported values and analysis of NIST certified reference materials SRM 1515 (Apple leaves). Most of coffee beans sample were found to be a good agreements towards NIST standards and different countries reported values.
