The Journal is made available to all AAVSO members and subscribers. In order to speed the dissemination of scientific results, selected papers that have been refereed and accepted for publication in the Journal will be posted on the internet at the eJAAVSO website as soon as they have been typeset and edited. These electronic representations of the JAAVSO articles are automatically indexed and included in the NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS). eJAAVSO papers may be referenced as J. Amer. Assoc. Var. Star Obs., in press, until they appear in the concatonated electronic issue of JAAVSO. The Journal cannot supply reprints of papers. Page Charges Unsolicited papers by non-Members will be assessed a charge of $15 per published page. Instructions for Submissions The Journal welcomes papers from all persons concerned with the study of variable stars and topics specifically related to variability. All manuscripts should be written in a style designed to provide clear expositions of the topic. Contributors are strongly encouraged to submit digitized text in MS WORD, LATEX+POSTSCRIPT, or plain- text format. Manuscripts may be mailed electronically to [email protected] or submitted by postal mail to JAAVSO, 49 Bay State Road, Cambridge, MA 02138, USA. Manuscripts must be submitted according to the following guidelines, or they will be returned to the author for correction: Manuscripts must be: 1) original, unpublished material; 2) written in English; 3) accompanied by an abstract of no more than 100 words; 4) not more than 2,500–3,000 words in length (10–12 pages double-spaced). Figures for publication must: 1) be camera-ready or in a high-contrast, high-resolution, standard digitized image format; 2) have all coordinates labeled with division marks on all four sides; 3) be accompanied by a caption that clearly explains all symbols and significance, so that the reader can understand the figure without reference to the text. Maximum published figure space is 4.5” by 7”. When submitting original figures, be sure to allow for reduction in size by making all symbols and letters sufficiently large. Photographs and halftone images will be considered for publication if they directly illustrate the text. Tables should be: 1) provided separate from the main body of the text; 2) numbered sequentially and referred to by Arabic number in the text, e.g., Table 1. References: 1) References should relate directly to the text. 2) References should be keyed into the text with the author’s last name and the year of publication, e.g., (Smith 1974; Jones 1974) or Smith (1974) and Jones (1974). 3) In the case of three or more joint authors, the text reference should be written as follows: (Smith et al. 1976). 4) All references must be listed at the end of the text in alphabetical order by the author’s last name and the year of publication, according to the following format: Brown, J., and Green, E. Foot Adrienne Russell Program Authorized to Offer Degree: Communication University of Washington Abstract The Political Logic of the Radical Right Media Sphere in the United States Yunkang Yang Chair of the Supervisory Committee: W. Lance Bennett Department of Communication Democracy in America is threatened by an increased level of false information circulating through online media networks. Previous research has found that radical right media such as Fox News and Breitbart are the principal incubators and distributors of online disinformation. In this dissertation, I draw attention to their political mobilizing logic and propose a new theoretical framework to analyze major radical right media in the U.S. Contrasted with the old partisan media literature that regarded radical right media as partisan news organizations, I argue that media outlets such as Fox News and Breitbart are better understood as hybrid network organizations. This means that many radical right media can function as partisan journalism producers, disinformation distributors, and in many cases political organizations at the same time. They not only provide partisan news reporting but also engage in a variety of political activities such as spreading disinformation, conducting opposition research, contacting voters, and campaigning and fundraising for politicians. In addition, many radical right media are also capable of forming emerging political organization networks that can mobilize resources, coordinate actions, and pursue tangible political goals at strategic moments in response to the changing political environment.

Copyright 2006 INTRODUCTION It is obvious that NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC got a hold of information from other resources and decided to do a cable presentation on May 22, 2006, which narrates most of my website threads in short two hour special. It was humorous to see Masons being interviewed and trying to fool the public with flattering speech. I watched the National Geographic special entitled: THE SECRETS OF FREEMASONRY and I was humored to see some of what I’ve studied as coming out of the closet. My first response was: Where was National Geographic during the 1980s with this information? Anyways, it’s nice to know that they had an excellent presentation and I was impressed with how they went about explaining the layout of Washington D.C. I was laughing hysterically when a Mason was interviewed for his opinion about the PENTGRAM being laid out in a street design but incomplete. The Mason made a statement: “There is a line missing from the Pentagram so it’s not really a Pentagram. If it was a Pentagram, then why is there a line missing?” He downplays the street layout of the Pentagram with its bottom point touching the White House. The Mason was obviously IGNORANT of one detail that I caught right away as to why there was ONE LINE MISSING from the pentagram in the street layout. If you didn’t catch it, the right side of the pentagram star (Bottom right line) is missing from the street layout, thus it would prove that the pentagram wasn’t completed.

August 2015 Abstract Active galactic nuclei (AGN) are one of the most fascinating astrophysical objects in the universe. While they emit photons over the whole electromagnetic spectrum, AGN are also promising candidates to be the sources of the recently discovered high-energy extraterrestrial neutrino flux. ANTARES (Astronomy with a Neutrino Telescope and Abyss Environment RESearch) is a large volume deep-sea water Cherenkov telescope in the Mediterranean Sea located 42 km from Toulon in France. Is is optimized for the detection of muons from high-energetic neu- trinos, which can be produced in the atmosphere or by extraterrestrial accelerators. As the ANTARES detector is optimized for up-going muons, this means that it is “looking down- wards” through the Earth. Thus, neutrino telescopes located on the northern hemisphere are most sensitive to the observation of southern astronomical objects. The TANAMI program (Tracking Active Galactic Nuclei with Austral Milliarcsecond Interfer- ometry) is a multiwavelength program to monitor relativistic jets in active galactic nuclei of the southern sky. It consists of a radio Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) monitoring program, as well as a high-energy multiwavelength program. As theoretical models predict a correlation of γ-ray and neutrino emission generated in the same processes within an AGN jet, the performance of a multi-messenger analysis using γ-ray light-curves could result in a significant decrease of background in a neutrino point source analysis and thus increase the sensitivity of an analysis to a neutrino signal from AGN.

Draft version June 19, 2018 ABSTRACT We present a Spitzer IRAC and MIPS survey of NGC 2451 A and B, two open clusters in the 50-80 Myr age range. We complement these data with extensive ground-based photometry and spectroscopy to identify the cluster members in the Spitzer survey field. We find only two members with 8 micron excesses. The incidence of excesses at 24 microns is much higher, 11 of 31 solar-like stars and 1 of 7 early-type (A) stars. This work nearly completes the debris disk surveys with Spitzer of clusters in the 30-130 Myr range. This range is of interest because it is when large planetesimal collisions may have still been relatively common (as indicated by the one that led to the formation of the Moon during this period of the evolution of the Solar System). We review the full set of surveys and find that there are only three possible cases out of about 250 roughly solar-mass stars where very large excesses suggest that such collisions have occurred recently.

We have conducted a detailed study of the object NGC 2451, which actually consists of two different open clusters A and B along the same line of sight at 206 pc and 370 pc distance, respectively. Although belonging to the nearest clusters, they have not been much investigated until present due to strong contamination by field stars. ROSAT X-ray observations and optical UBVR photometry are used to identify cluster members by means of X-ray emission and colour-magnitude diagrams. The identified stars concentrate nicely around the expected main sequences in the colour-magnitude diagram at the distances derived from astrometric investigations. Altogether, 39 stars are identified as member candidates of the nearer cluster A, 49 stars as member candidates of the more distant cluster B, and 22 faint stars are probably members of either of the two clusters, but due to large errors it is not clear to which one they belong. Further 40 stars identified with X-ray sources are probably non-members. For the first time, the range of known probable cluster members of NGC 2451 A and B has been extended downwards the main sequence to stars of spectral class M.
