For years, our staff has looked for a source of simple, fast, objective information about the nation's federal judges. And many litigators over the years have called or written to ask for information on a certain judge or if we know of a reference book that might provide it. Now we have decided to create that reference FEDERAL JUDGES book. Using more than a dozen reporters and AT A GLANCE:* researchers, we have interviewed litigators, TOTALNUMBER:560 judges, judicial clerks, and others in all 50 states, AVERAGEAGE:60.I the District of Columbia, and various U.S. PERCENT MALE: 94.I territories in order to develop brief profiles of all PERCENT APPOINTED BY: 560 active federal districtjudges.
