St Bartholomew’s Primary School Newsletter St. Bartholomew’s Church of England Primary School Ann Street, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 4GP Telephone: 01273 692463 Fax: 01273 645239 Email: [email protected] Website: www.st-bartholomews.brighton-hove.sch.uk Headteacher: Ms K Blood Deputy Headteacher: Miss F Keeling Date: 05/04/19 Dear Parents and Carers, Easter Parade We will be holding our Easter Parade and Mass on Tuesday 9th April at 1.45pm – apologies that the date may have been wrong on previous newsletters. All children will be there and parents are invited to join us. The event will start in the school hall but parents are invited to join us from outside the hall as we parade down at about 2pm. You can then join us for the service. Please join your child in sitting with their class if you would like to. We would LOVE as many children as possible to be part of this community celebration and we hope all children feel like they can participate, even if they don’t usually attend church. We would also love as many parents, grandparents and families as possible to come to join us – you are all welcome. We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday at 2pm – please meet us as we exit through the green door! Please also be aware that children can ONLY be excused from the Easter Parade and Mass for religious reasons. Scooter and Pedestrian Training Children from Year 1, 2 and 3 have taken part in some pedestrian or scooter training this week that is provided by Brighton and Hove City Council. They teach them important skills that will help them keep safe when they are out and about – why not ask them to show you what they have learnt? New Entrance If we keep EVERYTHING crossed, our new entrance SHOULD be open after the Easter break. Children will still enter through the pupils gates as normal but we will make sure that each class has an opportunity to visit the new office area at some point in the first week back. If children are late or if you have any need to visit the school office, please use the new doors after Easter. We will plan a special “Grand Opening” event but please do pop in at some point in the new term to have a look. Social Media It has come to our attention that a very small minority of parents are choosing to post concerns about the school on some social media platforms. Whilst we appreciate that you may not always agree with the decisions we make, sharing things on social media, especially before we have been given the chance to discuss it or explain, is not helpful to anyone involved. If you do have any concerns or something has unsettled you, please do make an appointment with your class teacher or, if necessary, a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT - this is Ms Blood, Miss Keeling, Miss Banks and Ms Evans). Most problems can be resolved or decisions can be explained and we will (and do) apologise if we get things wrong. Most people who choose to work in school do so because they want to make a positive difference in children’s lives – every decision we make should be in the best interest of all the children. Learning for Life within Christian Values St Bartholomew’s Primary School Newsletter St. Bartholomew’s Church of England Primary School Ann Street, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 4GP Telephone: 01273 692463 Fax: 01273 645239 Email: [email protected] Website: www.st-bartholomews.brighton-hove.sch.uk Headteacher: Ms K Blood Deputy Headteacher: Miss F Keeling Governor Vacancies We do currently have some vacancies for school Governors, both parent and foundation Governors. The foundation governor’s role is to ensure the Christian ethos of the school is upheld and it is likely that anyone applying for this voluntary role would have a faith. If you would like to find out more, please look at https://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/content/children-and-education/schools/school-governors. You can also make an appointment to see Ms Blood to discuss it further. Chomp holiday clubs Chomp helps low income families during school holidays and term time by providing a free nutritious meal for all the family alongside activities to increase social engagement and confidence with peers.
