From the Chief Executive Officer 2011 BOARD OF DIRECTORS FROM THE CHIEF Keith Addy, President Thomas Wolf, Vice-President EXECUTIVE OFFICER... Paul Daugherty, Secretary James Lonz, DVM, Treasurer John Ball Ryan Chandler We started 2011 by opening a 22-bed hospice unit Erle Dail in the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown and Marcia Goff ended the year by celebrating a birthday milestone of 30 years. Matt Gross Taylor Hart Throughout the year Stein Hospice made gains in John Kaiser, Jr., several key areas, including increasing the number Dru Meredith of patients under our care, expanding our Veteran Tom Mueller services and offering bereavement counseling and Janet Runner other programs to more grieving adults, children Gary Schimmel and families. Dennis Sokol Cherie Spragg We were able to make such progress because of the generosity of the people, businesses and organizations listed in these pages. Their financial MEDICAL DIRECTOR support is essential for us to carry out our mission and William Inglis, MD address the growing needs of the communities we serve. ASSOCIATE Consider: MEDICAL DIRECTORS • We served more than 400 Veterans in 2011, ranging in age from 50 to 98. About 40 percent of the Veterans said they had experienced combat, Andrew Ache, MD dangerous or traumatic assignments during their service, and we have Reagan Bristol, DO developed special programs to address those issues. Whenever a Veteran dies Christina Canfield, MD in our Care Center, we offer the family an escort ceremony for their loved Jessica Crow, DO ones. The ceremony is short and simple but extremely meaningful and uplifting Dennis Furlong, DO to families in the early hours of their grief. For our Veterans at the Ohio Veterans Todd Keller, MD Home, we put together a memorial service for their fallen comrades. On Michael McHenry, MD Veteran’s Day we pinned more than 300 Veterans in 22 ceremonies across our Kelly Meehan-de la Cruz, MD service area – and beyond. One of our nurses was in New York City for the James Preston, DO annual Veteran’s Day parade and pinned a Veteran she met on the street. Edward Radatz, DO • The number of adults, children and families using our Bereavement Services Larry Robinson, DO continues to grow. The increased demand is due in part to our concentrated Todd Williams, MD effort to educate the community about our services, available to anyone, regardless of whether they have had previous involvement with Stein MANAGEMENT Hospice. We consistently get bereavement referrals from doctors, community Jan Bucholz, MBA, MSN, RN, President and Chief agencies, schools and churches, who learn about our services through Executive Officer speaking engagements, mailings, word of mouth and our newsletter “In Touch.” Tamara Zuilhof, Chief Operating Officer Stein Hospice’s skilled and highly trained counselors provide one-on-one and Jane Bruck, Finance Director group counseling, for people of all ages. Our ability to assist in grief and loss Barb Metcalf, RN, CHPN, Compliance Director issues have captured the attention of many in the community. Gretchen Franklin, LISW-S, Social Services Director Samantha Bechtel, LISW-S, CTS, GC-C, Bereavement Stein Hospice has a sacred obligation to everyone in our community to be and Spiritual Care Director there when we are needed the most. We are able to do this because of the Beth Frank, Quality and Education Director commitment of individuals such as you. You have been there for us; we will be there for you. Murphy Chair, Bar Memorial Committee Presentation Accepted Court Adjourned Music by Laurie Leigh Harpist April 30, 2021 Presented by the Hennepin County Bar Association in collaboration with the Hennepin County District Court ABOUT THE BAR MEMORIAL The Hennepin County Bar Association and its Bar Memorial Committee welcome you to this Special Session of the Hennepin County District Court to honor members of our profession with ties to Hennepin County who passed away. We have traced the history of our Bar Memorial back to at least 1898, in a courthouse that is long gone, but had a beauty and charm that made it a fitting location for this gathering. We say “at least 1898,” because there is speculation that the practice of offering annual unwritten memorials began in 1857. Regardless of its date of origin, the Bar Memorial is now well into its second century, and it is a tradition that is certain to continue simply because it is right— and it is good. Buildings come and go, but the Bar Memorial has always found a suitable home, including in the chambers of the Minneapolis City Council, the boardroom of the Hennepin County Commissioners, and in Judge James Rosenbaum’s magnificent courtroom.

  • What Literature Knows: Forays Into Literary Knowledge Production
Contributions to English 2 Contributions to English and American Literary Studies 2 and American Literary Studies 2 Antje Kley / Kai Merten (eds.) Antje Kley / Kai Merten (eds.) Kai Merten (eds.) Merten Kai / What Literature Knows This volume sheds light on the nexus between knowledge and literature. Arranged What Literature Knows historically, contributions address both popular and canonical English and Antje Kley US-American writing from the early modern period to the present. They focus on how historically specific texts engage with epistemological questions in relation to Forays into Literary Knowledge Production material and social forms as well as representation. The authors discuss literature as a culturally embedded form of knowledge production in its own right, which deploys narrative and poetic means of exploration to establish an independent and sometimes dissident archive. The worlds that imaginary texts project are shown to open up alternative perspectives to be reckoned with in the academic articulation and public discussion of issues in economics and the sciences, identity formation and wellbeing, legal rationale and political decision-making. What Literature Knows The Editors Antje Kley is professor of American Literary Studies at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. Her research interests focus on aesthetic forms and cultural functions of narrative, both autobiographical and fictional, in changing media environments between the eighteenth century and the present. Kai Merten is professor of British Literature at the University of Erfurt, Germany. His research focuses on contemporary poetry in English, Romantic culture in Britain as well as on questions of mediality in British literature and Postcolonial Studies. He is also the founder of the Erfurt Network on New Materialism.

  • PASSING of TOM BOYER We Are Saddened to Share the Passing Of
October 12, 2018 Visit us online at www.wpma.com WP-10-12-18 -18 -16 PASSING OF TOM BOYER -13 -08 We are saddened to share the passing of Tom Boyer, 73, owner of Treasure Valley Coffee Company in Boise, Idaho. He passed away September 30, 2018 in a grassy Owyhee County Idaho valley with his dog, Ellie. Tom was a long-time supporter of WPMA and has exhibited at the WPMAEXPO for almost 20 years. Tom was born in Bremerton, Washington and moved to Boise with his family as a child. Tom’s life-long love affair with the Owyhee mountains began early when his father Henry took the family there for outdoor adventures; fishing, hunting and hiking. After working 15 years for Boyd’s Coffee of Portland, Oregon, Tom moved back to Boise in 1984 and started Treasure Valley Coffee with his wife, Carol and son, Greg. Tom’s love of sales, service and great coffee was a winning combination for 34 years, leaving a blueprint for success that will continue to flourish in his memory. Tom’s sanctuary was the wilderness. He loved hiking, fishing, boating, water and snow skiing, off road dirt bikes, bicycling, exploring trails in his ATV, or just driving down the road and spotting a hawk. Whether flying in the back country to camp or for a fly-in breakfast, he loved being in the air. Tom flew for many work events, which was a great time saver. He enjoyed being a part of the close-knit Idaho Aviation community. A memorial service will be held for Tom on Saturday, October 13th at 1:00 p.m.

Action No. 97-0160, ordering NRWC to respond to Interrogatory No. 3 and Document Request No. 3, as modified by the Court. INTRODUCTORY COAKMENTS Intemgatory No. 3 and Document Request No. 3 relate to activities from more than four years ago. NRTWC has experienced changes in personnel over those years, and documents may no longer exist, if they ever existed. Nonetheless, “WC, with the assistance of counsel and staff, has conducted a diligent search for documents and facts, and responds on the basis of information so gathered. The Court limited the scope of Interrogatory No. 3 and Document Request No. 3 to the 1992 senatorial candidates, and the Commission, by its attorneys in discussions with “WC counsel, has further limited the scope to the 1992 general election senatorial candidates. Thus, NRTWC’s search has focused on the 1992 general election senatorial candidates. Also, the Commission and NRTWC, in briefing and in discussions between counsel, have agreed that NRTWC may redact documents to delete supporter-identitjing information from documents to be produced, and NRTWC is doing so.
