SPORT FISHING AT MACRITCHIE, LOWER PEIRCE AND UPPER RESERVOIRS

The Public Utilities Board will open three designated areas at

MacRitchie, Lower Peirce and Upper Seletar Reservoirs to the public for sport fishing on 18 Dec 2000. This is part of its community relations programme to promote more recreational activities for public enjoyment. The locations of these three designated areas are shown in the attached plans. The new fishing grounds are additions to the existing ones at , Lower Seletar Reservoirs and Lake.

The designated fishing grounds at MacRitchie and Upper Seletar

Reservoirs will be opened 24 hours a day. The designated fishing ground at

Lower Peirce Reservoir will be allowed daily from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm.

Anglers can only use artificial baits to fish in the fishing areas. Fishing is free of charge. The rules and regulations for fishing at these designated fishing grounds are attached. The , Singapore Sports Council and the Sport

Fishing Association (Singapore) will assist in promoting the sport and educate the public on good fishing ethics and practices at designated reservoirs. The

Sport Fishing Association (Singapore) will be holding a demonstration on sport

fishing at the designated fishing ground at on 23 Dec

2000.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR FISHING AT ,MACRITCHIE, LOWER PEIRCE AND UPPER SELETAR RESERVOIRS

1. The designated fishing grounds at MacRitchie and Upper Seletar Reservoirs will remain open 24 hours a day for fishing. For , fishing is allowed only at the designated area daily from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm.

2. To maintain cleanliness and the quality of water in the reservoirs, anglers are reminded to use only fishing rods or lines with artificial baits.

3. For the safety and enjoyment of all visitors, we advise anglers :

a. to exercise due care and attention when casting lines to avoid causing injuries to others.

b. to help keep the place clean by throwing all litters in the litter bins.

c. not to use fly fishing tackles and fishing rods exceeding 2.7 m (9 ft).

4. Children under 12 years of age are to be accompanied at all times by adults who shall be responsible for their safety.

5. Activities that are disallowed are:

a. Using live baits for fishing.

b. Using fishing nets, traps, spears and other fishing methods.

c. Boating, swimming, bathing, washing and wading in the water.

d. Camping, staking out, marking or reservation of places.

e. Using cooking stoves or setting open fire.

6. The PUB shall not be liable for any damages, loss, injury or death incurred or sustained by any person in the designated fishing grounds. PROPOSED DESIGNATED FISHING GROUND AT LOWER PEIRCE RESERVOIR CM Oz
