Porsche customers score further victories at Buriram Thailand Super Series round

Porsche Asia Pacific customers took an overall win and class podiums at the second meeting of the 2019 Thailand Super Series from the Chang International Circuit in Buriram.

Pre-event GT4 championship leader Chayapon Yotha enjoyed two great battles with fellow Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport racer AAS Motorsport’s Pasu Liptapanlop, who fought for the overall lead in both races.

The Morseng Racing Team driver twice came out on top, but also took the overall GTC victory on Sunday, with the second AAS Motorsport car, driven by TCR Thailand Touring Car Championship racer Nattachak Hanjitkasem, scoring an overall podium in third.

Liptapanlop was taken out of the top scrap in race two by a rival competitor on the penultimate lap. He still made the chequered flag in fourth to ensure he scores points for the championship.

Ahmad F. Alam and Daniel Storkersen secured a podium on Saturday in the Earl Bamber Motorsport/B-Quik Racing Team Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 991) but spun out of race two. 2017 Super Car GTM and TCR Asia Series champion Kantadhee Kusiri in the est Cola by AAS Motorsport car was just behind in race one and claimed a podium on Sunday.

Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Pro-Am front-runner Suttiluck Buncharoen followed up a strong series debut in Sepang by taking the Am honours, and second overall, in race two.

Dechathorn Phuakkarawut made his GTM debut for YK by Sunoco, scoring two second places in the Am class and fourth overall in race two.

The Sathienthirakul brothers, former TCR Europe driver Munkong and Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia winner Tanart, did not finish race one but ensured a strong finish on Sunday with second in Pro-Am.

Alexandre Gibot, Head of Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific: “We’ve had another strong showing for the Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand in Buriram. An overall victory in the GTC category proves the capability of the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport, and our GTM customers were able to score strong results with overall podiums. Now the Thailand Super Series goes on a brief hiatus until the end of September, but we look forward to returning to the Bangsaen Street Circuit were Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand meet again.”
