16Th April 2019 [Press Release for Immediate Release] Attention To: General News, Education and Feature Editors and Reporters 16th April 2019 [Press Release For Immediate Release] Attention to: General News, Education and Feature Editors and Reporters Diocesan Boys' School 150th Anniversary: Inter-house Soap Box Race (16th April 2019, Hong Kong) In celebration of its historic 150th Anniversary, the Diocesan Boys' School (DBS) will host the Soap Box Race on 8th May 2019. DBS today (16th April 2019) held a press briefing to announce details, followed by a go kart demonstration session. Mr. Joseph Ngai, Member of Board of Directors of DBS Foundation Limited and Mr. Lawrence K. K. Yu, Chairman of the DBS 150th Anniversary Steering Committee attended the event. Three famous race drivers including Ms. Denise Yeung Ka-yee, Mr. Darryl O’ Young Yeuk-hay and Mr. Will Chan Kwok-ching have demonstrated a Go-kart run on the DBS School Drive. In celebration of its sesquicentenary, the School is launching nine major diversified celebration events, in sports, art, music and other areas. The first two events namely the “DBS 150th Anniversary Inauguration Ceremony cum Groundbreaking Ceremony of the DBS Foundation Pavilion” and “DBS 150 Run” were held on 12 January 2019 and 31 March 2019 respectively. This special race shall form part of the School's Inter-House competitions. The School’s House system started in 1922. All students belong to a House. Each House colour is named after the School’s beloved Headmasters from 1869 to 1982. They are Arthur (green), Piercy (dark blue), Sykes (brown), Featherstone (yellow), Sargent (red), Goodban (light blue), George She (orange) and Lowcock (purple). The soap box race, which highlighted the geographically featured school drive of DBS, is regarded as the first of its kind among school anniversary events in Hong Kong. It was also being made possible thanks to the efforts of Mr. Lawrence K. K. Yu who successfully solicited the support of the professional racing team. …Cont’d 1 “Students of each House will drive the Go-karts which are out of engine along the School drive. House team members are required to decorate their Go-karts and attend a briefing session and a trial run, through which they will know more about Go-kart race and learn how to drive,” said Mr. Lawrence K. K. Yu. Being the first event of its kind, the students will design and build 8 unique Go-karts to compete in a series of races along the DBS School Drive. Five prizes will be given. They are Fastest House, Fastest Driver (Champion, 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up) and Best Design. We welcome three professional drivers to inaugurate the race: 1. Ms. Denise Yeung is a Hong Kong’s fastest female racing driver who is the first and to date the only female champion in the HKAA Challenge in N2000 class. She also attained the 2015 Hong Kong Touring Car Champion and 3rd Prize of the 2016 Formula E Hong Kong ePrix E-Golf Professional Race. 2. Mr. Darryl O' Young is a Canadian-born Hong Kong racing driver who won 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia – Mercedes - AMG GT3, 2018 Blancpain GT Series Asia - Porsche 911 GT3 R, 2018 China Touring Car Championship - BAIC Factory Driver, 2018 FIA GT World Cup - Macau Grand Prix and 2nd in Class - Audi R8 GT4 of 2018 24 Hours of Dubai. He became the first racing driver in Hong Kong to be awarded the “Hong Kong Sports Stars Award”. 3. Mr. Will Chan is a Hong Kong’s fastest go kart racing driver who won numerous awards as follows: 2018 China Karting Championship Champion, 2017 & 2018 Rok Cup China round, and 2018 China ASEAN Karting Championship. In 2017, he was also the Asian Karting Open Championship winner (Macau) and 1st Runner Up of the Macau International Kart Grand Prix Kz. Following an inaugural campaign that surpassed all expectations, the SRO Motorsports Group-run series consolidated its status as Asia’s most popular GT category by featuring even more cars, manufacturers, drivers and nationalities amongst its 30+ entries per round in 2018. The series brings together a mix of GT3 and GT4 machinery, while GTC cars are also eligible to compete. 2018’s calendar again featured twelve 60- minute races spread across six events in four countries, while a new venue and nation - Yeongam in South Korea - ensures six FIA Grade 1 circuits will comprise 2019’s schedule. Cars feature a maximum of two drivers, each of whom qualifies for and then starts one of the weekend’s two races. They must then swap places with their co-driver during the mandatory pitstop window, which lasts 10- minutes. Audi Sport customer racing teams won the Dubai 24 Hours and the Gulf 12 Hours with the GT3 race car in 2019. In strategic commitments, Audi Sport together with its partners decided the Nürburgring 24 Hours for the fifth time and the Suzuka 10 Hours for the first time in its favor. Donau, July 1, 2019 – Audi Sport customer racing scored further successes with its customer teams last weekend. In round two of the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe, the Audi R8 LMS drove to its first victory this season. The Audi R8 LMS GT4 triumphed again in the Canadian Touring Car Championship and clinched podium finishes in the United States as well. In addition, several top-three results went to the Audi RS 3 LMS. Audi R8 LMS GT3 First victory this season: Belgian Audi Club Team WRT scored its first victory this season in round two of the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe at Misano (Italy). In an Audi R8 LMS, Belgian Audi Sport driver Dries Vanthoor and his compatriot Charles Weerts won in extremely hot weather conditions. Thus, 18-year-old Weerts is the youngest winner in the history of the Blancpain GT Series. Belgian Audi Club Team WRT, while running in second position, had made perfect use of a safety car period for the driver change from Vanthoor to Weerts and captured the lead. Weerts held up to the pressure from his immediate rivals and safely brought home an advantage of nearly three seconds.

    Dear Friends, 2019 is just around the corner and already looks exciting. You might have heard about some of the planned changes, which are now confirmed below. Firstly, Blancpain GT Series Asia will become Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia, thus aligning the championship with SRO’s other European and American GT3 sprint series. GT4 has also been rebranded – GT4 Asia – and has separate races at most events, although there will be no standalone weekends. DOCUMENT DOWNLOADS • 2019 Calendar • 2018 Media Report • 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia Entry Form • 2019 GT4 Asia Entry Form • 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge & GT4 Asia Overview ENTRY FORMS We are officially kicking off the 2019 Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia and GT4 Asia seasons by releasing the entry forms. Also look out for the early bird tariffs and 2019 packages. Entries open on December 1. FORMAT • GT3 and GT4 races will be split at most events while qualifying will be separate at all meetings. • Once again our calendar features six rounds comprising 12x 60-minute races. Korea’s Yeongam circuit joins the schedule, meaning we have six FIA Grade 1 venues for the first time. Together, these represent the best circuits in Asia. • As per 2018, teams will be given opportunities to test at the start of the season at Sepang and mid-season at Suzuka (one-day test). The Suzuka 10 Hours*, Asia’s only round of the expanding Intercontinental GT Challenge, also takes place at the end of August. Further details and entry forms for this event will follow shortly (*the Suzuka 10 Hours is not part of Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia).
