A Note From the Playwright:

I was thinking about how popular Christmas "specials" used to be on TV, and I thought that if people got a kick out of watching celebrities sing Christmas songs in front of fireplaces, they'd love to hear those songs in the context of a family-friendly musical comedy live on the stage. That's why I wrote Kooky Christmas. Twelve songs in the show are old favorites, and three are new songs that I wrote. Denise Calkins orchestrated the new songs, and Aaron Swanson made the backing tracks for all the numbers, new and old.

I'd like to thank Darci Faye for taking a chance on a new show, and I'd like to thank the talented cast and crew of Kooky Christmas for bringing the story to life. I hope it adds to your holiday fun.

-Brian Daly

A Note From the Director:

Brian Daly reached out to me over the summer, asking if I was interested in doing Kooky Christmas, as soon as I read it, I knew I had to direct it. Just reading this script had me laughing. It just seemed like the right fit for our second musical to present at the Broadway Kids in The County Theatre Company. The script reminded me of so many of the classic Christmas movies that I love, like the Griswald's in National Lampoon Christmas, and a bit of Elf, with the Grinch thrown in. I was excited to share this script with my child actors, and I was excited about the chance for the kids to get to work with adult actors. And now that the rehearsal period is over, I'm excited to get to share this story with you, the audience! I hope you will love it as much as I do, and it will put you in the Christmas spirit!

It's also exciting for me and the cast that we get the honor of presenting the WORLD PREMIERE of Kooky Christmas! That means you are also among the first six audiences to ever see this show on stage! So when this show makes it to New York, you can say "I was there when!"

Forget about all the Christmas shopping you have left to do, and that tree that isn't up yet, and all that baking you need to do for Christmas, as you get comfy in that chair and watch the Wassail's come alive as Santa Clause takes you back in time to Christmas Eve when not all appeared to be ...
