Southern Spirit 5/25 Our Beginnings Gary Fuss 06/07 B2N Wantima 5/65 Back in the late 1970's Ken Lister wanted his son Greg to play cricket. The closest Dipan Patel 07/08 C2N Bald Hills / Lawnton 5/55 club was Pine Rivers Cricket Club at Dakabin and it was difficult to get his son to practice. He decided to recruit local boys and make up teams from Albany Creek. At Lee Dorling 07/08 C2N Southern Spirit 5/52 the time there were 3 teams at Pine Rivers made up entirely of Albany Creek boys. Rob Smith 07/08 B1N Pine Rivers 5/6 Ken Lister, Geoff Sweet and Bruce Patching started the new Albany Creek Junior Jeff Dorling 07/08 C2N Gold Crest 5/33 Cricket Club and signed up 4 teams and joined the Redcliffe & Districts Junior Cricket Hitesh Patel 07/08 C2N Redback Tyres 5/7 Association (Zone 6). Lee Dorling 07/08 C2N Ferny Districts 5/30 Although training was in Albany Creek, they still had to travel far and wide to play Rob Smith 07/08 C2N Peninsula 5/39 their matches, as there was no quality home ground. Clubs in the District were Anthony James 07/08 B3N Pine Rivers 5/7 located at Redcliffe, Deception Bay, Margate, Bribie Island, Caboolture, Burpengary Lee Dorling 07/08 C2N Gold Crest 5/28 and Kilcoy. Each player was charged a match fee. This enabled Albany Creek to Hitesh Patel 07/08 C2N Southern Spirit 5/12 provide gear for the players and it wasn't long before we had a reputation as the Club Gary Fuss 07/08 B1N Astute Kangaroo 5/16 with the best equipment for its players - no clubhouse or headquarters, but each team Dipan Patel 07/08 C2 Redback Tyres 5/23 had a well-stocked kit.

I would like to send a special welcome to all those new families with the Hawks this season. This year we have a record 38 teams playing from U8 through to our Open division which is U16 to U18. This season, as with last season, we have two half season competitions, a pre –Xmas and post Xmas competition. With these two separate competitions before and after Xmas, it will be possible for your team to win two competitions throughout the full season. After Xmas when some players go off to play for their schools, we will re-arrange teams to fill any vacancies. This is usually only for teams from U12 upwards. This year we will be again sending out the Hawk Talk electronically. This reduces costs and certainly takes a load off the time spent by our Editor, Eddie Mills. It also allows us more flexibility to highlight the various products of our very generous sponsors. Thank you to all those people who have volunteered to be coaches or managers. This season we only had to find a few new coaches, mostly in the younger age groups, which says a great deal about our retention rate.

  • Cricket Memorabilia Society Postal Auction Closing at Noon 10
CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION CLOSING AT NOON 10th JULY 2020 Conditions of Postal Sale The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged or unsuitable, or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid no later than 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia for auction on its website no later than 3 weeks prior to the closing date of the auction. Bids will only be accepted from CMS members. Postal bids must be in writing or e-mail by the closing date and time shown above. Generally, no item will be sold below 10% of the lower estimate without reference to the vendor.. Thus, an item with a £10-15 estimate can be sold for £9, but not £8, without approval. The incremental scale for the acceptance of bids is as follows: £2 increments up to £20, then £20/22/25/28/30 up to £50, then £5 increments to £100 and £10 increments above that. So, if there are two postal bids at £25 and £30, the item will go to the higher bidder at £28. Should there be two identical bids, the first received will win. Bids submitted between increments will be accepted, thus a £52 bid will not be rounded either up or down. Items will be sent to successful postal bidders the week after the auction and will be sent by the cheapest rate commensurate with the value and size of the item.
