Personal Teaching and Research Philosophy

1. I tried in my books to study the important issues in rhetoric and literary critique to achieve the following goals:

A. Retreating of Rhetoric to its early bright self, before it diverted in its late years, this diversion which led to it being so empty of almost all of its charm and beauty.

B. Renew the language of speech with the student, or the person being taught, with what is consistent to the spirit of that time; thus explaining Rhetoric and literary critique issues in a clear exciting way.

C. To achieve my second goal, I turned to research and papers from other nations, and benefited greatly from these studies, and build a bridge between what I presented in the area, and what the ancient critical and rhetorical heritage was filled with…

D. Follow up with the hottest critical issues and the rhetorical ways in a chronological fulfilling way and analyzing it, and stopping at the most famous critiques and rhetoricians.

E. Show the efficiency of modern looks in the studies of the literary critiques, Arabic Rhetoric, and the explanation of the flourishing of critique and rhetoric under its

[36]

light, and the expanding in revealing the beneficial side from the perspective of the western in explaining many of the ancient rhetoric styles, and analyze its themes, and this study tends to exceed the follow up that is taking over the modern Rhetorical studies.

2. To rise up with the critical and rhetorical studies, I see that these researchs could be submitted in the form of a project, prepared in groups.

3. The research could have a practical mode, thus serving the university students in the form of simplifying the difficult concepts, simplifying matters, and opening new horizons for thinking and searching (especially the levels of Masters and Doctorate), which is what I tried to do myself in some of my works.

4. In regarding to teaching, I see that it should be about the student; thus having the student be the main teaching element, and has an effective role in the educational process, and not just a negative recipient, this is done through encouraging students through individual or group research and projects.
