An unusual, exotic, ammonite fauna including Romaniceras mexicanum Jones, 1938, Prionocyclus hyatti (Stanton, 1894) and Coilopoceras cf. springeri Hyatt, 1903 is recorded from the late Middle Turonian of Vau- cluse and Gard, southern France. It is the first record of this ammonite association outside the Gulf Coast region and the Western Interior of the United States of North America. Up to present, these species were con- sidered as endemic to the Western Interior sea-way. -

Abstract: Phylogenetic analysis of Euomphaloceratinae COOPER, 1978, a group within highly diversified and heterogeneous Acanthocerataceae, indicates a fundamental dichotomy which suggests promotion of this taxon to family rank with recognition of two subfamilies. Nominate Euomphaloceratinae comprise E. (Euomphaloceras), E. (Kanabiceras), Burroceras, Paraburroceras, P. (Pseudaspidoceras), P. (Ampakabites), and Morrowites, and Romaniceratinae subfam. nov. is made up of Schindewo/fites, Kameruno ceras, Codazziceras, Proromaniceras (Proromaniceras), P. (Obiraceras), Neomphaloceras, Yubariceras and Romaniceras (?with Shuparoceras as a subgenus). Zusammenfassung: Die phylogenetische Analyse der Euomphaloceratinae COOPER, 1978, einer Gruppe der hoch diversifizierten und heterogenen Acanthocerataceae, weist auf eine fundamentale Dichotomie innerhalb der Unterfamilie hin. Phylogeny, Diversity, and Ecology of the Ammonoid Superfamily Acanthoceratoidea Through the Cenomanian and Turonian
PHYLOGENY, DIVERSITY, AND ECOLOGY OF THE AMMONOID SUPERFAMILY ACANTHOCERATOIDEA THROUGH THE CENOMANIAN AND TURONIAN DAVID A.A. MERTZ A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE August 2017 Committee: Margaret Yacobucci, Advisor Andrew Gregory Keith Mann © 2017 David Mertz All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Margaret Yacobucci Both increased extinction and decreased origination, caused by rising oceanic anoxia and decreased provincialism, respectively, have been proposed as the cause of the Cenomanian Turonian (C/T) extinction event for ammonoids. Conflicting evidence exists for whether diversity actually dropped across the C/T. This study used the ammonoid superfamily Acanthoceratoidea as a proxy for ammonoids as a whole, particularly focusing on genera found in the Western Interior Seaway (WIS) of North America, including Texas. Ultimately, this study set out to determine 1) whether standing diversity decreased across the C/T boundary in the WIS, 2) whether decreased speciation or increased extinction in ammonoids led to a drop in diversity in the C/T extinction event, 3) how ecology of acanthoceratoid genera changed in relation to the C/T extinction event, and 4) whether these ecological changes indicate rising anoxia as the cause of the extinction. In answering these questions, three phylogenetic analyses were run that recovered the families Acanthoceratidae, Collignoniceratidae, and Vascoceratidae. Pseudotissotiidae was not recovered at all, while Coilopoceratidae was recovered but reclassified as a subfamily of Vascoceratidae. Seven genera were reclassified into new families and one genus into a new subfamily. After calibrating the trees with stratigraphy, I was able to determine that standing diversity dropped modestly across the C/T boundary and the Early/Middle Turonian boundary. -

ISSN 2533-4050 (print), ISSN 2533-4069 (on-line). Abstract: Only two specimens of the ammonite genus Schloenbachia have hitherto been recorded from the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin (BCB). While the first specimen was originally described by Dr. J. Soukup in the 1970s, the other one was discovered in an older collection of the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague in 2018. Recently, both specimens were systematically investigated and interpreted as Schloenbachia lymensis, a new ammonite species for the BCB. The stratigraphic distribution of S. lymensis as well as the palaeobiogeography of this taxon are discussed in this paper. Estos ejemplares incluidos dentro de la sucesión de la Formación La Frontera, en su mayoría, representan el Turoniano inferior - medio. La existencia de depósitos del Cenomaniano más alto hacia la base de la Formación La Frontera no se puede demostrar en este trabajo. Ammonite faunal dynamics across bio−events during the mid− and Late Cretaceous along the Russian Pacific coast ELENA A. JAGT−YAZYKOVA Jagt−Yazykova, E.A. 2012. Ammonite faunal dynamics across bio−events during the mid− and Late Cretaceous along the Russian Pacific coast. Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 57 (4): 737–748. The present paper focuses on the evolutionary dynamics of ammonites from sections along the Russian Pacific coast dur− ing the mid− and Late Cretaceous. Changes in ammonite diversity (i.e., disappearance [extinction or emigration], appear− ance [origination or immigration], and total number of species present) constitute the basis for the identification of the main bio−events. The regional diversity curve reflects all global mass extinctions, faunal turnovers, and radiations. In the case of the Pacific coastal regions, such bio−events (which are comparatively easily recognised and have been described in detail), rather than first or last appearance datums of index species, should be used for global correlation. This is because of the high degree of endemism and provinciality of Cretaceous macrofaunas from the Pacific region in general and of ammonites in particular. Identification D'un Biohorizon D'ammonites À Romaniceras Romaniceras Marigniacum Sp. Nov. Turonien Moyen À La Base Du

(Turonien moyen) à la base du Tuffeau Jaune de Touraine (France) Francis AMÉDRO 1, 2 Francis ROBASZYNSKI 3 Hervé CHÂTELIER 4 Patrice FERCHAUD 5 Bertrand MATRION 1, 6 Résumé : Dans le sud du Bassin de Paris, le long des vallées de la Loire et du Cher, le Tuffeau Jaune de Touraine a été traditionnellement daté du Turonien supérieur par la présence de très rares Romani- ceras deverianum (ORBIGNY, 1841). Toutefois, les quelques mètres de tempestites à la base de la for- mation n'ont jamais livré d'ammonites. Aujourd'hui, juste au sud du Turonien stratotypique, en Tourai- ne méridionale, la récolte de plus de 150 ammonites à la base du Tuffeau Jaune de Touraine ainsi que dans le sommet du Tuffeau de Bourré sous-jacent apporte des précisions significatives sur l'âge des formations. En réalité, les premiers mètres du Tuffeau Jaune de Touraine appartiennent encore à la zo- ne à Romaniceras ornatissimum (Tm 3) datant le Turonien moyen. La découverte dans cet intervalle de Romaniceras (Yubariceras) ornatissimum (STOLICZKA, 1864) associé à la nouvelle espèce Romanice- ras (R.) marigniacum AMÉDRO & CHÂTELIER sp. nov. indique qu'on se trouve dans la partie élevée de la zone à R. ornatissimum. D'autres espèces sont présentes dans ce biohorizon : outre Romaniceras (R.) marigniacum et Romaniceras (Yubariceras) ornatissimum, on trouve Masiaposites cf. kennedyi AMÉDRO & DEVALQUE, 2014, Collignoniceras woollgari regulare (HAAS, 1946), C. turoniense (SORNAY, 1951) et Collignoniceras vigennum AMÉDRO & CHÂTELIER sp. -
