The Disability Information Bureau compile this booklet annually to help disabled people in get the help and support they need from local groups and services.

Alzheimer’s Society We provide advice, information and ongoing support for people with any type of dementia and their carers and families, including one to one support, dementia cafes, Singing for the Brain and “Side by Side” volunteers. We work closely with health and social care, voluntary organisations and the private sector to provide a range of services and can make formal referrals to other services to make life simpler for people with dementia and their families. We work in conjunction with NHS colleagues and community services. • Rural Communities [new service 2014]. Supporting people in rural and isolated areas in the community. • Mobility Aids. Service which loans out wheelchairs and other equipment on a short term basis. • Access Equip. They also undertake Community Care Act assessments or Carers assessments and fund the individual to access social care service if required for their unmet needs (after a period of reablement). Staff work alongside Health Professionals (e.g. Community Matrons, District Nurses) to ensure a more co-ordinated response for people in accessing the services they need. D & G Little Bus Covering the whole of the council area, we offer local transport in wheelchair-accessible minibuses for residents who are unable to access conventional public transport for any reason. Customers must register to use the service which operates between 9:30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday. All our drivers are registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service and authorised by the Council. Booking line is open 9:30am to 12:30pm Monday to Friday. Tel: 0845 077911 Shopmobility - Macclesfield Operated by the Disability Information Bureau from premises on Churchill Way in Macclesfield, we enable clients to borrow power scooters, power wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs for a small fee to use around the town centre. Users must register and there is a fee of £20 for one year's membership plus a charge of £1 for two hours, followed by £1 for every subsequent hour. Alternatively you can use the service as a visitor (£3.00 for the first two hours followed by £1 for each subsequent hour). Open 9:30am to 4:00pm excluding Bank Holidays (not closed for lunch) and alternate Saturdays 11:00am to 3:00pm. Time Out Group The group offers an improved quality of life through supported evening leisure and social activities. Here members can share interests, make friends, develop skills and enjoy new experiences. Time Out Group is for adults over the age of 18 who have a learning disability. We run groups in Wilmslow and Macclesfield and meet every week in the evening 7.00pm - 9.00pm (weekly for sport sessions and every other week for arts and social events).
