Interesting and elegant White Carrara marble sculpture depicting an attractive profile woman with rose in hair. The sculptor voluntarily decided to let the observer think that the model was surrounded by a bush of suggested roses. Beautiful ornamental work of the late-19th century or the early -20th century, signed by this famous sculptor who is Affortunato Gory.

The sculpture is in fine original condition.

Biography:

Affortunato Gory is an active Italian sculptor from 1895 till 1925. A native of Florence, he studied sculpture, at the Academia in Florence, supervised by Augusta Rivalta. Gory as many Italian artists, emigrate in Paris the early-20th century to exercise its Art.

He changed his name to Fortunato Gori in Affortunato Gory and began to expose to The French Artists Show of 1902 with a feminine bust in bronze and marble. He will present his works until 1923.

Gory owes his success thanks to his feminine full of grace sculptures, as well as for the combined use of bronze, marble, alabaster, and ivory.
