MCA 700 Discography by David Edwards, Mike Callahan & Patrice Eyries © 2018 by Mike Callahan MCA-700 Midline/Reissue Series: By the time the reissue series reached MCA-700, most of the ABC reissues had been accomplished in the MCA 500-600s. MCA decided that when full price albums were converted to midline prices, the albums needed a new number altogether rather than just making the administrative change. In this series, we get reissues of many MCA albums that were only one to three years old, as well as a lot of Decca reissues. Rather than pay the price for new covers and labels, most of these were just stamped with the new numbers in gold ink on the front covers, with the same jackets and labels with the old catalog numbers. Deana Carter Danny Myrick
Deana Carter DEANA CARTER, the daughter of famed studio guitarist and producer Fred Carter, Jr., grew up surrounded by musical greats, including Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Waylon Jennings, and Simon & Garfunkel. She developed her songwriting skills at writer’s nights throughout Nashville, but her real break came when one of her demo tapes fell into the hands of Willie Nelson, who remembered Deana as a child. Impressed with how she’d grown as a songwriter, Nelson asked Deana to perform along with John Mellencamp, Kris Kristofferson, and Neil Young, as the only female solo artist to appear at Farm Aid VII in 1994. Her 1996 debut album Did I Shave My Legs for This? quickly climbed to the top of both the country and pop charts, quickly achieving multi-platinum status. "Strawberry Wine,” the first single from the album, was awarded CMA's 1997 Single of the Year. Seven albums and a decade later, Deana is still writing and producing for both the pop/rock and country markets when not on the road touring. Her superstar success continues to be evident. Her chart topper “You & Tequila,” co-written with Matraca Berg and recorded by Kenny Chesney, was nominated in 2011 as CMA’s “Song of the Year” and received two Grammy nods. Carter also recently co-wrote and produced a new album for recording artist Audra Mae while putting the finishing touches on her own Southern Way of Life that hit the shelves last December. Zach Seabaugh Georgia boy, Zach Seabaugh fast became a local favorite bringing his southern charm to the ever changing world of country music. Like many artists from the South, Zach‘s love affair with music was born in the choir pews of Marietta First United Methodist Church just north of Atlanta Georgia. Performing came naturally for him and he excelled in musical theatre and chorus all while playing the guitar and studying the timeless genre of country music. His appearance on the hit NBC television show 'The VOICE' at 16 years old introduced him to millions of fans all over the world. Seabaugh’s taste for country music was influenced by listening to music legends Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and George Strait on an old Wurlitzer juke box at his grandfather’s house. His exposure to new artist including Garth Brooks, Zac Brown, Corey Smith, Jack Johnson, Sam Hunt, Brad Paisley and Cole Swindell among others has made him a versatile artist. The classic country and new country influences shines through Zach’s music with a unique, soulful style of singing. His air of confidence along with the unique blend of refined vocal ability with classic country music and his ability to deliver an exciting performance on stage sets him apart from other artists. In June of 2016, Zach released his first self titled EP and held the number three spot on the iTunes Country Album Chart before noon just behind his mentor Blake Shelton. The EP charted overall at number 25 on Billboard's Country Music Charts for the week.

MY SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE GRAND OLE OPRY By Wayne Hogan Herald•Citizen, Cookeville, TN Sunday, 9 December 2012, pg. C•4 ‘Writer’s Corner’ Editor’s note: This was originally written by Hogan in 1993. They call it the “Grand Ole Opry.” That’s what former newspaper reporter George D. Hay, its inventor, named it not long after the first group of performers had stood before their open mikes that first Saturday night and had their down•home music and vaudeville•comic routines beamed out over Nashville’s WSM•650 “clear•channel” radio to nearly all of America, way back in 1925. Nineteen hundred and twenty five. The year Nashville’s venerable Grand Ole Opry was born. It’s hardly missed a heartbeat since. Almost since its first moments, the Grand Ole Opry has been Mecca to the millions who’ve, over the years, come to Nashville to savor the finest in “country” music. It was not till a few short years ago, through, that I became one of those “savorers.” For a long time, I hated “country music” (which, as I’m sure you know, has been called “hillbilly music” much of its life and mine). Could barely stand to think of it, much less listen to it. Well, to make what could easily be a longer story shorter, Susan and I’d often talked about getting a couple of tickets and driving the 80 miles to Nashville some Saturday night to experience this “Grand Ole Opry” thing in person. See if it was all that our mind’s eye image had it cracked up to be.

We aim to break even on postage and will use the best method to minimise costs. One good innovation is the introduction of the “POST PLUS” satchels, which replace the old red satchels and include a tracking number. Available in 3 sizes they are 500 grams ($7.50) 3kgs ($11.50) 5kgs ($14.50) P & P. The latter 2 are perfect for larger interstate packages as anything over 500 grams even is going to cost more than $11.50. We can take a cd out of a case to reduce costs. Basically 1 cd still $2. 2cds $3 and rest as they will fit. Again Australia Post have this ludicrous notion that if a package can fit through a certain slot on a card it goes as a letter whereas if it doesn’t it is classified as a “parcel” and can cost up to 5 times as much. One day I will send a letter to the Minister for Trade as their policies are distinctly prejudicial to commerce. Out here they make massive profits but offer a very poor number of services and charge top dollar for what they do provide. Still, the mail mostly always gets there. But until ssuch times as their local monopoly remains, things won’t be much different. ----------------------------------------------- For those long term customers and anyone receiving these newsletters for the first time we have several walk in sales per year, with the next being Saturday August 25th.
