associated members and continental unions. It should be used to ensure that, in all IJF World Judo Tour events, the flags displayed in the venue and those used during the awarding ceremony are as shown in this handbook. A national flag represents and symbolises a sovereign state. It is flown by the government of that nation, but usually can also be flown by its citizens. A national flag is typically designed with specific meanings for its colours and symbols, which may also be used separately from the flag as a symbol of the nation. The design of a national flag is sometimes altered after the occurrence of important historical events. Flags must be treated with respect at all times. © International Judo Federation, 2021 These flags were correct at the time of publication. We aim to keep this manual as up to date as possible, we apologize if a flag has changed and it is no longer correct in this version. Flag Manual 9 INTERNATIONAL JUDO FEDERATION FLAG REFERENCE BOOK 10 Flag Manual INTERNATIONAL JUDO FEDERATION FLAG REFERENCE BOOK REGULATIONS All the flag references in this handbook concern the observe side only (the side with the emblem or principle design). Flags must be as shown in this handbook (for some flags, the reverse side can be different and are not shown in this manual). All flags should be the same size and ratio. The IJF standard ratio is 2/3. All flags with other ratios have been redesigned to fit the IJF standard ratio. The IJF Country Code rule are as follows: NOC Code is used for Olympic nations and the ISO 3166 alpha-3 code for non-Olympic members. For each country, the flag reference will be as following: Continental Union Country name Country code Continent: Grey: Africa EJU Yellow: Asia Blue: Europe If Olympic nation Red: Panamerica Gre en: Oceania Horizontal flag Membership status: IJF standard ratio None: IJF member Associated member PANTONE reference Pantone colour references 485 (red) Vertical flag IJF standard ratio Original flag ratio 1:1 Flag ratio comparison: Green: IJF standard ratio Red: Original country ratio Vertical or Vertical variant mention Original official flag ratio if the design is different from horizontal one Flag Manual 11 INTERNATIONAL JUDO FEDERATION FLAG REFERENCE BOOK Local Organiser The local organiser is responsible for the production of all flags. Flags must be ironed or steamed flat to remove any creases. Damaged flags must be replaced. They must provide: To hang in the venue: One (1) International Judo Federation (IJF) flag. One (1) National Federation flag (not the nation flag). One (1) event flag/local organising committee (if applicable/optional). One (1) per participating delegation (national flag or approved equivalent). The flags should be hung in the correct vertical or horizontal orientation. For a multiple flag display, they should be hung in alphabetical order according to the NOC code. The final NOC code list will be ready at the end of accreditation. If that is too late to hang them, please contact [email protected] for the most up to date list that they have on the date that you need to hang them.
