These include most importantly the thousands of Police first-responders who have gone out of their way to save the lives of victims of road crashes. The Staff and Board members of SaveLIFE Foundation have worked closely with donors, partners, corporate supporters, friends in the media, and community volunteers to give voice to the bereaved families that have been affected, so that solutions can be found in order that other lives can be saved. As Margaret Mead once said ”Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For indeed, that’s all who ever have.” We therefore take strength from the many caring people who have been part of this journey with us. And we thank you for your commitment and dedication to this important cause. Without you, we would not be where we are. PREFACE This brochure attempts to present in a concise form information about the activities of the 16 Departmentally Related Standing Committees (DRSCs) during the year 2014-15 serviced by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. The main functions of DRSCs are to consider the Demands for Grants of the concerned Ministries/Departments, to examine such Bills pertaining to the concerned Ministries/Departments as are referred to the Committee, to consider any aspect of the annual reports of Ministries/Departments and to consider National Basic Long Term Policy Documents presented to the Houses and referred to the Committee. The Committees make report to the Houses on each of the matter referred to them. 2. For the sake of convenience, the information has been arranged in two parts. Part I gives a resume of the work done by each DRSC and Part II contains Appendices regarding composition of the Committees, sub-Committees, details of sittings of Committees/sub-Committees, attendance of Members and Study Tours etc. With a view to have information regarding action taken by the Government on the recommendations made by the Committees in their reports at one place, a statement showing analysis of the action taken by the Government on the recommendations of each Committee, has also been compiled and is given in Part II.
